Headed out this morning just dad and I. to our suprise we had to break through about 2" of ice. That got old real quick and just decided to set up in the small opening we had made. Thought what the heck the roto and a few decoys should work.

Boy did it ever work. WE had our limit in TEN MINUTES shocked. Dose anyone have some tips for breaking ice? Heres a photo from my I kams of them when we where picking up .

Congrats on a good shoot! Great pix as well. Breaking ice just plain sux but clearly it's worth it. First tip is strip down as much as you can so you don't sweat too much. As far as breaking, this time of year I'd keep an ice chisel, ice chopper, of aluminum baseball bat in the pickup. Also, if you break off big enough sections you can sometimes slide them under the existing ice. Way less chopping if you can get it done that way.

Have you used your Ikams while shooting yet? I've still not gotten real good duck video. The depth part of it is tough- very two dimensional- but still fun to play with.

H Box the two shots of them flying are from my ikams but ya like you said i wish there was some sort of zoom feature or somthing cuz a lot of my shots look like there a mile away. I shot one that turned out pretty well ill try and load it tmrw.

Tracker - check out my rooster video on the pheasant forum.

Also, here is video of a redhead I shot a few weeks ago. It was flying with a flock of cans so I waited for the last bird so I wouldn't double by accident. The video makes it look like a 60 yard shot - it was actually about 35. It was the first time shooting the new gun so don't make too much fun of my poor shooting!! smile

Sorry - not trying to hijack your post about your good hunt but I'd like to share tips with other guys using the iKam. Again congrats on a good day for you and your dad.

THanks guys we went out the next day with a few friends and only got seven in 3 hours, all where singles or doubles. I think the incoming front had a lot to do with our success on Sat.

That front last Saturday definately had them moving. We had the same thing, awesome hunt on Saturday, not much on Sunday. Hope we get one more of those before its over

With just a few days to go here before Duck closes we are starting to see a lot of Mallards here in the south Metro. Historically they would have been here a week or so sooner but at least there some Ducks and Geese around to shoot. And if you are in the Rosemount, Farmington area they are a ton a birds around. Wish we had more fields over that way but they seem to be tough to come by over there for some reason.

Good Luck and safe hunts to all Waterfowlers!~
