Jamey Carrol

Looks like the Twins are gonna finalize a 2 yr deal worth 7 mil. for Jamey Carrol. I like the idea of getting Nishi out of there. Carrol hit .290 last yr for the dodgers and can help the team out in the middle infield.

he's 38... we'll see whats left i guess.

i hope we're not going back to signing old vets hoping they've got something left. ponson, rondell white, bautista, mike lamb. probably some others i can't remember.

Well once we lose Cuddyer to the Phillies, that should free up some money to sign a few 35+ year old pitchers with nothing left.

we dont need to get older we need to get younger, i think most people realize we are rebuilding so go the rebuilding route and pick up some young talent and not old dudes.

Sounds like they are hoping he can bridge the gap until their SS in AAA is ready to come up, either this year or next. Can't remeber the name, but hey were talking about it on the fan the other day.

Here is the first of several stupid moves by the Twins.

nishioka was a stupid move, even bert said japan leagues are AAA at best. I do belive the twins will sign cuddyer, he by no means is a superstar like a fielder or that guy from st louy, so he should be signable to under 15 mil per year.

7 mill for who again ? I've watched baseball 2nite on espn for many years and I'm not sure this guy has been in a highlight, I heard he's a good pinch runner though. Went from JJ to Nishi now we're back to the Juan Castro's and Adam Everett's of the world, if I were a Detroit Tiger or Chi Sox guy I'd be laughing very hard, where we gonna bat him 10th in the line-up? I would've brought back Denny Hocking for 1 mill a year.

they added a catcher in doumit. hopefully we never see drew butera handle a bat again. doumit also switch hits and can fill in at 1b and of or dh.

with the announcement that plouffe will be moving to the outfield. i think it's obvious they are planning on not having kubel or cuddyer back next year.

B Amish, that was good for a laugh, Drew Butera, handle a bat, no doubt, geez that was ugly, average pitchers made him look silly up there. I hope he wasn't overguessing things, yes Drew here comes the fastball, yes Drew here comes another, yes Drew get back to that dugout and get the gear on again and hope that was your last at bat of the game. Doumit from Pittsburgh I'd assume, he's medium solid but that Snyder guy caught mainly for Pitt Doumit platooned in the outfield, we're in trouble, no hitter in there right mind wants a piece of 81 games at Target Field. LOL Drew Butera, geez that was ugly, my mom used to yell I can't watch him bat or that Matsui Nishioka guy she'd yell.

Jamey Carrol, he must be grinning ear to ear, how many million, at least we don't have to wait for his power to develop, he had ah a goose egg in the tilt dept. last season, he was telling his wife should I retire, hold everything the twins want to give me 7 million honey, yes 7 million with 0 expectations, all I got to do is look a touch better than Nishi did last year and I'm gold. Slide into retirement and wa la.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
