Call me a traitor but the Brewers have always been my 2nd favorite team going back to the Gorman Thomas, Robin Yount and Paul Molitor days/era! I don't hold Packer footbal grudges when it comes to baseball... wink

So here's to the Brew-Crew who are currently on FIRE hanging on and beating the Big-Bud dollars from St Louie!

Go Brewers! smile

It has been a fun season for Brew Crew fans. Usually we are 10 games out by now and move on to the Packers.

It is nice to see them winning the close games.

Go Brewers!! cool

I also have no problem with the great run the Brewers on on now, but can you imagine how difficult it would be to listen to those dang Sconnies if they had two world champs in the same year. eek Yikes!

Boo-urns. I'd be cheering the Astros, but.. well.. ya know.

Cards for the NL Central this year! At least I can cheer on Berkman.

This is a playoff or bust year for the Brewers. I don't see us keeping Prince next year. Tough to replace a bat and presence like that.

Cardinals are in the playoffs every year, give the Beer crowd a chance once in a while.

lol ok laugh

I certainly would not be disappointed to see the Brewers in the playoffs. I see them as the Midwest's NL companion to the Twins.. kinda like how I'm an Astros fan but still enjoy seeing the Rangers win.

Wheres chubs going next? Yankees or Red Sox? I really hope not, Brewers need to bite the bullet and just sign him long term- give him the money he deserves

Yet another win, versus our only NL central competition. Great time to be a Brewers fan!

Have the Packers started practice yet? grin

Brewers had a chance a couple years ago with CC. I don't mind seeing them doing good. Since the twins are done I still have my Yankees to watch.

Brewers have won 20 of the last 23 and are well on the way to winning again today. They're up 5 to 1 right now and St. Louis is getting beat at Chicago 3 to 0.

wouldn't mind brewers being there at the end. don't really care for fielder but the guy can mash the ball and is very dangerous at the plate. milwaulkee/detroit would be a good matchup to watch in world series. still think it will be the phillies and either red sox or yankees though if I had to bet on it.

I believe it's 21 RiverFish. You take the games remaining (30) add 1 (31) and subtract the games in front they are (10) which gives you 21.

And greebs, what's not to like about Fielder? He's good in the clubhouse, works and plays hard every day, isn't a "showboat", pretty much the kind of guy everyone roots for.

Milwaukee Journal says 22 is the magic #. Not saying they are not wrong, just going by that reference.

They sweep the Cards and the magic number is down to 7.

Games left besides the 2 left at St. Louis:

At home for 4 against Philly and 2 against Colorado.

On the road for 3 at Cincy and 3 at Chicago.

Final home stand, 3 against Florida and 3 against the Pirates to fishing the season.

Well, so much for sweeping the Cards, magic number is still at 11. Sad thing is Yovani pitched well enough to win but not much run support, seems to be the story of his career as a Brewer.

1 out of 4 from Philly doesn't look good but the rest of the games are against sub .500 teams, Rockies, Reds, Cubs, Marlins, and Pirates. Ideally we stay ahead of Arizona in the final standings or we'll meet up with Philly again and no home field advantage but Arizona's schedule isn't very tough either.

Go Brewers!!!

Down to 7 now and could have been 6 but Philly laid down for the Cards. And Arizona lost so the Brewers are a game up on them.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
