I've never been to the dam in Willow river, and I was hoping for a little information on it, directions would be helpful, and is it accessible to the public? oh, and is there any fish, bullheads, carp, whatever?

Thanks, J.

You can see it from Hwy 61 in Willow river. Not very good fishing-alot of silver dollar sunnies and rock bass. Some smallies can be had especially down river from the dam towards where it meets the kettle. Not worth fishing.

Kettle

I have caught suckers, it is right off of Hwy 61, just north of town, you can pull in and park in Gen Andrews St Park. Be carefull if you decide to swim, there was a drowning there on the 4th, got stuck in the under current, we had 5 fire depts out there and multiple boats, took 3 days for recovery, if you have a boat, let me know I can point you in the directions of some lakes near moose lake to fish more bass panfish etc

How did that guy die? Did he jump off the backside of that dam or what? It is really not possible to be sucked over the dam like some news media reported. I have swam there 100's of times and never had a problem. I assume alcohol was involved. frown

It actually was a man that jumped in to save his challenged brother who had fallen in from the backside of the dam his brother surfaced and was okay, he however did not. Autopsy showed no alcohol in system. It was a terribly sad day.

That is really sad, I really wish the story would have been reported correctly. Was it reported accurately in the area?

The locals don't even fish it, I would highly suggest not driving from Wyoming to fish it. many much better spot much closer to you. If you want to shore fish that area the Kettle is much better- Rutledge area is good where the old road crossed he river.

Hey Joshua, May be post back in the morning when the owner of this site is awake and see if he likes the Free bait, buy later your selling. May be you can work out the sponsor-vendor deal with him.  I'll have to say posting late at night when site owners and most of the Mods are asleep is a good way to get some site and product views in before it's deleted. Good luck with the sales!

According to the Army Corp of Engineers weather station here in Waskish we have had a grand total of  1.29 inches of precipitation so far in 2018.  When we were burning the grass of there was still about 30% snow cover. The flames were hitting 10 feet high.

Nice to see there might actually be some ice melting up that way! jkrash, those are hooded mergansers though.   I might’ve called out my first woodie sighting this year as one of those too.  But nah!  I know what I saw had to be woodie! Haha! Seriously though, I’ve seen more, and more variety of ducks this spring than ever  in my life.  The late lake ice outs have made the river a diver Mecca.  I think I saw a few with Ely or bust signs on em too!  The bulk of woodies have been in the Little Falls area for about a week, some for a couple.  The hoodeds have been here for at least a month. They’re all coming though!
