His bat seems ok to me. He's gonna be a make contact and run fast kind of guy. Pretty sure that is what the Twin's were expecting when they signed him. As for the defense, he needs to improve. Two errors in three games is not Twins baseball. I hope the defense issues are jitters and will get better as he gets acclimated to the big leagues.

Give him time to adjust. The pitchers are probably better here than they are in Japan.

And for the fielding, that is just all repetition. Plus they are playing on a terrible turf field. Lets see how he does on grass.

What do u expect from a AA player? Bring up Hughes, right Sledneck!

We need Hughes bat in the lineup

His .246 spring training avg. would put him right near the top of the twins current batting leaders!! grin

Give him a few weeks and I think he will be one of the better players on the twins. Errors happen wheather it was jitters or not who knows. Drafted him on my fantasy so I'm hoping for the best

Too early to tell how good he is. We have played 3 games.....

The language barrier may hurt synching the infield a little.... but with time they will figure it out.

I think he will end up being a good addition to our team

We should've dumped Kubel and nabbed Matsuyi. Would've made him feel more comfortable in the clubhouse, and plus we'd have a better DH/OF on the team smile

i think its to early to get down on the team, they are a slow starting team also if its all star break and they are below 500 or like 20 games out then ill let them have it

They need to get Nishi out of the 2-hole. Way too many K's, especially looking. I'd rather see Casilla up there right now.

NEW YORK -- Twins second baseman Tsuyoshi Nishioka was helped off the field at Yankee Stadium Thursday in the seventh inning of the Twins 4-3 loss to the Yankees. The Twins said their prized offseason signing suffered a broken fibula and was placed on the disabled list. There was no timetable set for his return.

Nishioka was hurt on a take-out slide by Nick Swisher.

With one out in the seventh inning, Mark Teixeira grounded to third baseman Danny Valencia, who threw to Nishioka at second for the force out. As Nishioka relayed the ball to first, Swisher slid wide and clipped Nishioka with his shins.

Nishioka lay on the ground for a few moments before leaving the field with assistance from assistant trainer Dave Pruemer and his translator, Ryo Shinkawa.

This is baddddd news for the Twins. Although I'm still optimistic, this is going to leave a pretty substantial gap in the middle infield, and we'll lose some offense. I just hope the guy heals quickly and can play sometime after the mid-summer classic.

This is where we really, REALLY miss Nick Punto.

Just a terrble injury and what we didn't need to happed to him. I think he was or is going to be good player for us. Tough loss indeed1

Looks like a cheap play! Kinda like what the White Sox would do

I disagree, just a hard slide into 2nd, with bad luck. Everyone of the twins would do the same thing to bust up a DP.

There was nothing wrong with the slide from Swisher rather it was Nishi's problem for not trying to protect himself and getting into the air to throw the ball...as much as I hate to say it Swisher did what he was supposed to do and broke up a double play while still making contact with the base!

It was not exactly a clean play - Swisher slid VERY late, and came in half-sideways. If he had made a normal slide, there is zero chance Nishi would have sustained that injury. That said, it's a play that happens quite often. It's just a bad bit of luck that it resulted in a broken leg.

I agree.. not a cheap play.. it was his own unfamiliarity with playing 2nd base that got him in trouble.. Sad though, would have liked to have seen what he can do.. On a side note.. I got to see the Twins in spring training in Sarasota playing Baltimore. Hughes hit a bomb that still has not landed... Left the park in a hurry.

Water Temps 48-52. I tried for crappies and caught two walleye. I can't even crappie fish. 1/32 ounce jig and a tiny minnow

Looks like you could use a FM hat. 😉    The future son in law prefers the lump coal.  He’ll start it in coal starter over a propane burner, then dump in it his smoker grill as needed.   Congrats on the clean break “over there”.

Should really start a What yeah Smoking thread!    Another fun place we tried when up in Duluth. OMC stands for "Oink, Moo, Cluck" They serve pork cracklins for starter to test their sauces on.

On the east side of St. Boni. It's not too far from me. A friend lives in St Boni and loves the place. I haven't tried it yet.

First time ever going there with the wife. Little spendy but they make some darn good piles of meat! We had the brisket! 😋

I have heard it's because of the drought. I know in my area ( meeker co.) the sloughs that they trap minnows in have dried up.

Excuse my ignorance, but was is driving the bait prices? Usually the shortage is due to a late ice-out from the swamps and streams. This year should have been much better.

I should probably learn to use the 6+ containers of lures I have collecting dust in my tackle box. We got on a decent crappie bite the last couple of evenings and I broke out some plastics.  I caught some crappies on them ,just need to build my confidence in using them! I did notice they didn't seem to hold on to them as long as minnows!
