Croxton Pond Ice Bag

Question

Grabs

Just recieved my bag today for Christmas,..gosh she is good to me! Anyhow I really like it but I am having some troubles getting my rods all inside nicely. Does anyone have some helpful hints on how to get them in there. I think my biggest problem is all of my rods (4) are so different from each other in reel style and rod length, that there may not be a great way of getting them all in there. So anyone out there that has been using this bag, how do you do it?

P.S. Rick I know this topic is in the Ice Gear forum, but I wasn't allowed to post there. Why do we need permission to post there?

Croxton Pond makes several models of totes. If you have the ice tote with the 3 side compartments on it you should have plenty of room for 4-6 average sized rods in the center.

Collapsing the reel handles will help as does staggering the reels from one end to the other. I can manage up to 6 rod and reels by doing this and 4 should be no problem at all.

Give that a try, hope this helps.

Howdy All...

Just thought I'd bring this one back up to tell you this is a great product. Ordered it on 1/10, received it on 1/12. How's that for service!! So far it's contents are as follows... (4) rods, including a 33"er, 2 tip-ups, (2) small lure/gear boxes, 3 cell flashlight, head lamp, small tool pouch, a tin of Kodiak, and half a bag of chips. AND it's not even close to being full!!! I think I'll have to test it's limits as far as rod holding capability. And maybe another small box of misc. baits/lures. No such thing as having too many ya know.

This product comes HIGHLY recommended!!!!

I sure wouldn't go out icefishing without mine. Everything in one handy spot.

I have to tell you, I'd get this before I got a shelter.

Grabs,

I have the three compartment Croxton Pond. At first, I tried velcro-ing alll of my rods everytime I transported them, but just said the heck with it. I had 6 rods in there(like Backwater said)and collapsed the handles. If your going for a longer journey etc., I would take the time to velcro them all in. Otherwise, I just velcro my favorite more expensive rods in and throw the others in, zip it up and boom, I'M GONE!!!

Pwaldow, Hmmmmmm I was on Winnie with a Croxton Pond bag?? Oh that's right, you were just driving around harrassing people!LOL!

They had such rave reviews here on the Forum that I e-mailed my wife the page containing the info on the ice-bag: lo and behold, I got one for Christmas!
So far the only downfall: One of my fishin buddies gave me a hard time about carrying a "purse" with me fishing. He's just jealous. I'm sure he'll have one by the end of the season!

<;))))><

Jim,

I actually saw Rick's on Saturday morning and spent the rest of the day scheming how to talk him out of it grin.gif Thought it would be easy to talk him out of it towards the end of the day when he came walking back from visiting Toad and Gullguide about 100 miles out on the ice, but he looked so pathetic all frozen solid with no gloves or jacket, just didn't have the heart. Finally broke down and decided I would have to pay for it frown.gif

I've had mine for a month and wouldn't be without it !!!!
Mine holds 5 rods, two tackle boxes, a skimmer, and there's still room for a bag of jerky.
It lets you use your bucket for hauling fish and beverages instead of gear......

The gear bags keep all your rods, tackle and other frequently used items handy, organized and protected.
I definitely would not be without mine!!
I'm sure you who have one would not want to go back to the bucket brigade again.
It's THAT valuable.

We have been up since Saturday and all we got are small walleyes.  Very windy today.  Hope wind goes down

Quite a bit slower today. Only saw 2 teal between yesterday and today, which  really surprised me and most of the wood ducks seemed to have moved on. Didn’t stick around long enough for the geese. Hope everyone had a great weekend and good luck!

Carp30, Vermilion is starting into the fall transition period now that the water is cooling down. The bite can be either great or tough during this period. Yesterday we caught walleyes as deep as 44' and as shallow as 10'! Location and time of day is the key! We caught walleyes deep using short snell Lindy rigs,( 2 ft.), with minnows, The shallow walleyes hit best on the same rigs using 1/2 crawler. Sand and rock mix or transitions are the key areas right now. Necked down areas that have deep water and adjacent sand flats are almost always good now. Cliff

If  my memory serves me correctly , yes you can . I believe that we were able to safely walk a 16ft boat through the short stretch of current . When we did this it was warm part of summer and we were in shorts and just had a pair of tennis shoes on when we walked the boat up stream which was about a 30 yard or so pull .Now if you would attempt this during colder weather like now , I’m sure a pair of knee length rubber boots would be sufficient . Very beautiful clear water with awesome scenery . Walleye , Smallmouth , and Lakers .

Has anyone fished North Lake before? Lakefinder says there’s a navigable waterway there via Gunflint Lake. However, the map shows rapids in between Little Gunflint and Little North, with a short portage. Just wondering if I could get a boat in there.

Have got out 3 evenings so far.  Seeing deer only one of those evenings.  4 deer Monday evening with a fawn buck and a small 1 and half old buck coming within range.   Woods and fields are changing fast.

Good opener on the water in the Mankato area. 3 wood ducks and 2 geese. Little guy’s first opener, we left at 10:00 and he wanted to stay longer than I did!
