Croxton Pond Ice Bag

Question

Grabs

Just recieved my bag today for Christmas,..gosh she is good to me! Anyhow I really like it but I am having some troubles getting my rods all inside nicely. Does anyone have some helpful hints on how to get them in there. I think my biggest problem is all of my rods (4) are so different from each other in reel style and rod length, that there may not be a great way of getting them all in there. So anyone out there that has been using this bag, how do you do it?

P.S. Rick I know this topic is in the Ice Gear forum, but I wasn't allowed to post there. Why do we need permission to post there?

Croxton Pond makes several models of totes. If you have the ice tote with the 3 side compartments on it you should have plenty of room for 4-6 average sized rods in the center.

Collapsing the reel handles will help as does staggering the reels from one end to the other. I can manage up to 6 rod and reels by doing this and 4 should be no problem at all.

Give that a try, hope this helps.

Howdy All...

Just thought I'd bring this one back up to tell you this is a great product. Ordered it on 1/10, received it on 1/12. How's that for service!! So far it's contents are as follows... (4) rods, including a 33"er, 2 tip-ups, (2) small lure/gear boxes, 3 cell flashlight, head lamp, small tool pouch, a tin of Kodiak, and half a bag of chips. AND it's not even close to being full!!! I think I'll have to test it's limits as far as rod holding capability. And maybe another small box of misc. baits/lures. No such thing as having too many ya know.

This product comes HIGHLY recommended!!!!

I sure wouldn't go out icefishing without mine. Everything in one handy spot.

I have to tell you, I'd get this before I got a shelter.

You should have your bag by Saturday or Monday.

Grabs,

I have the three compartment Croxton Pond. At first, I tried velcro-ing alll of my rods everytime I transported them, but just said the heck with it. I had 6 rods in there(like Backwater said)and collapsed the handles. If your going for a longer journey etc., I would take the time to velcro them all in. Otherwise, I just velcro my favorite more expensive rods in and throw the others in, zip it up and boom, I'M GONE!!!

Pwaldow, Hmmmmmm I was on Winnie with a Croxton Pond bag?? Oh that's right, you were just driving around harrassing people!LOL!

They had such rave reviews here on the Forum that I e-mailed my wife the page containing the info on the ice-bag: lo and behold, I got one for Christmas!
So far the only downfall: One of my fishin buddies gave me a hard time about carrying a "purse" with me fishing. He's just jealous. I'm sure he'll have one by the end of the season!

<;))))><

Jim,

I actually saw Rick's on Saturday morning and spent the rest of the day scheming how to talk him out of it grin.gif Thought it would be easy to talk him out of it towards the end of the day when he came walking back from visiting Toad and Gullguide about 100 miles out on the ice, but he looked so pathetic all frozen solid with no gloves or jacket, just didn't have the heart. Finally broke down and decided I would have to pay for it frown.gif

I've had mine for a month and wouldn't be without it !!!!
Mine holds 5 rods, two tackle boxes, a skimmer, and there's still room for a bag of jerky.
It lets you use your bucket for hauling fish and beverages instead of gear......

The gear bags keep all your rods, tackle and other frequently used items handy, organized and protected.
I definitely would not be without mine!!
I'm sure you who have one would not want to go back to the bucket brigade again.
It's THAT valuable.

Fished a small west metro lake this afternoon.  Shallow was 6-7 inches, about 5 inches out in the middle, good solid ice.  This lake locked up early and didn't get messed up by wind or warm temps.  I drilled holes as I went just to keep checking the ice, since it was our first time out for the year.

I stayed on the ice this afternoon and out of the woods.  I watched the sun fade with the last day of the ML season with mine in the truck at the access.   The darndest thing: the fishing was terrible.  Kept hoping I’d find em or it would pick up in the evening.  Neither really happened. 😔     Still, it’s been a good hunting year.  Thanks all of you that shared your season here!

You may get two of these warm and waterproof, or waterproof and dexterity but you may be hard press to get all three as dexterity is hard to get with the other two in a glove.  The best I have been able to do is some Duck hunting gloves which aren't cheap.

Sunday evening report: Set up in 27 fow on 10 inches of ice off the West end of Ely island. I  fished from 2:40-5:00 tonight. Caught 4 and missed 2 more on the set line. Tossed everything back, about an 8 , 11, 13 and 15 inch fish. One on set line with plain red hook and chub near bottom and 3 jigging (one on a macho minnow and 2 on a flyer). Had a couple other good marks that didn't commit. Lots of wheeled/skid houses pulled out this weekend all over Mckinley/big bay area. About 3-4 inches of snow so good for travel with sleds or wheelers.

Yah, that’s a tough situation @Kettle.  Neoprene are pretty much the trend but they still aren’t magic.  I bought a pair of diving gloves and they’re much better than any standard fishing glove.     I bet those Simms are nice.   Try to find a pair that fits well but aren’t too snug, and possibly have a breathable back.

Agreed, there always seems to be some geese over wintering.  I continue to see geese flying around and roosted in open rivers.  Swans too.  Had a pair circle me tonight while I was ice fishing.  It’s getting to be an ordinary thing - seeing swans in the winter.

Went out last night for sturgeon. Considering it was my first outing of the year, I did okay with a couple sub-30" fish. Saw some dandies.

It's making ice but there were some pretty large open areas tonight
