st. croix fly rod help!

hello! i just won a st croix fly rod model 9100 it's 9ft but no other info was given, does anyone have any idea as to what wieghts these rods came in? i tried to google, but only came up with that it may be a salmon/steelhead rod in the 8wt class? price was right at only $40.00! new with tags and case/tube still!

Are you sure it isn't 9010? Is this a graphite or glass rod?

I've built a few rods using St. Croix graphite blanks. The numbers of their graphite rods usually indicate the length and weight. So 9010 would indicate a 9' 0", 10 weight. Yours may be a glass rod.

i gues i could have been a little more specific, its a "new" vintage st. croix model 9100 2pc fly rod. it had never been used, still has the original plastic wrapped on the cork. i'm assuming its a glass rod for the age. i thought the same on the model number also giving the length and wieght of the rod, but i had found another model 9100 that was an 8wt. with a removeable fighting butt. i have not recieved it as of yet, will there be any other numbers on the rod itself, or will the aluminum protective tube have some sort of marking?

The tube probably will not have any rod information on it, unless it was engraved by a custom builder orpast owner. The rod should have the weight on it if it was factory made. If it's custom made then it varies. It depends on if the builder adds it to the rod usually using a decal or pen.
