Hey Mcfin,if I don't see 4 each hour I think it's terrible. I think I'm done spearing for the season. Next weekend I'll be cutting ice at Longlake, for the plunge.

Early riser you must have sore arms cutting that many spear holes. Spike, don't take the plunge youself while you are cutting the hole.

Happy Birthday Mcfin!

I agree with you Elwood its no fun when the board slows down this much. I have thoughts of putting wheels under my perm sometime to.

I've got a portable that I haven't used in several years. The wind distracts from the whole experience. I've made several spear houses and the one I like best is four by six. It's seventyfive inches tall.I'm able to lift it alone onto a sled or trailer. I also made one four by five and six feet tall but then I had to cut a spear down to sixtyfive inches and I don't like a lighter spear. This has been one of the best years I've ever had and I'm almost sixtyfive.I've speared bigger fish other years but on Feb. 5, the twentyseventh northern was 31.5 and I also speared a 27.5 and a 28.5 which made this a great day.

Thanks for the birthday greetings guys.Mrs. Mcfin pulled up the last pike of the season on hook and line.Took my house off yeasterday and today I'm going through withdrawl. Trying to get up enough energy to do my long neglected chores but I am feeling lost without my spear in my hand.

Replace that spear with a shotgun - still surplus turkey permits in your area. Looking ahead to the next season is what helps with the withdrawl. My wifey says this fishin and huntin stuff is getting to be year round and just never ends! Hey, I could be doing worse things.
