Tire chains

Recommended Posts

Wondering if guys use tire chains through the season or not. And if so where is the best place to purchase a pair or a full set?

Thanks

I got a set from fleet farm really helps when snow gets deep but kinda tough on the truck they have the grabber bars on them so not much slippage at all about 70 bucks I just use them on the back and haven't been stuck yet.

+1 on Fleet Farm - know your tire size before you walk in and they will have it.

It is amazing how much they'll help, especially if your tread isn't the greatest. I like to get off of the plowed road so they were a must for me last season.

I've only had experience on the rear tires as well, I would have to imagine they would be more effective up front because of the weight, but I've never tried it.

They work really good on front tires!!! especially if you have a heavy pickup with diesel. A lot easier on truck also, because a lot less wheel hop.

Thanks for the input. How bad are they to get on and off? Do you chain up at the landing or wait until you are stuck and need them?

Thanks

Easy to get off, a little harder to get on. If you know you might get into some trouble put them on before you get stuck. Literally 10 times easier to install on the landing or bare ice. I have put them on after getting stuck, and you can do it, but take the few minutes to chain up before.
