You can sell tickets that have already been bought...I checked on it last year and did so with mine.

Yes the tickets are transferable, the name is changed when you weigh in your fish. $25 is a good deal, take them if you can use them. Good luck everyone, I'll be fishing it for the first time with my 8 year son. He needs an ATV and I need a truck!

On a side note. How is the ice thickness and snow depth? We are planning on bringing the wheel house and possibly going out on the North end? Last couple of years we have gone out at Ernies but we seem to have better luck fishing the North after the contest. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I have ?, i will be going for the first time also and was wondering you are only allowed to have one fish on the prize board, what if i catch a second one smaller than my first yet big enough to maybe win a prize can i give that fish to a buddy. just wondering. Also ive noticed that not many northerns are caught at this contest usually that is the target for other contest why is that.

Fishdeer-

Per contest rules:

Quote:
You may register as many fish as you want, but only the heaviest fish per contestant will qualify for a competition prize. No contestant will be eligible for more than one competition prize.

I remember my first contest, I was asking the same question. 8 or 9 Extravaganzas with zero fish caught and worrying about catching two is the least of your problems.

You should fish right next to me, it seems someone pulls up a top 150 fish within 20 yards of me every year.

It's been held during some pretty grueling conditions. There is no cold weather rule for postponing, it's basically up to the volunteers who have to endure the conditions far longer than the anglers. Looking at the long range forecast, I wouldn't anticipate any changes.

for those of you who have done it before, can you even use a vexilar or marcum? or is there just too much interference to use it effectively? i must say, having a humminbird does have its advantage in situations like this

I've had friends use their electronics successfully at the contest. It depends on your unit, how educated you are with the adjustments and your proximity to those who just "crank it up" If anything, just seeing the depths, structure and bottom substrate gives you a huge advantage. The boys from Hummingbird and some other Ice Team Pro's will be on the ice, make sure you visit with them and ask this question again.

I've been to a couple super cold ones, wind chill around -20 I think. The real issue there is keeping your beer and holes from freezing up.

If you dress warm enough it's not too bad in the super cold temps, the worst part I remember is walking out there into the wind, after that it was pretty nice.

I think it was 2 years ago that we had under 30 seconds to drink a beer before it froze solid. It was even tougher to keep the holes open. A great time was still had.

We almost packed a cooler with hand warmers that year, looking back we really should have.

I am wondering where would be the best place to bring a 8'x16' wheelhouse onto Gull? We are looking to setup towards the north end of the lake for the tournament weekend.

When would you arrive at Gull Lake? Thursday or sometime Friday? Thursday and Friday a.m. you can access the lake through 371 public access. Friday p.m. and Saturday I access the lake through Grand View.

We are hoping to arrive around 2:00 pm on Friday. We accessed the lake by the yacht club last year without a wheelhouse, but that was at least 4 miles from the tournament area.

Where is the best place to access Gull other than the Public access off Nashway. I assume that access will be closed due to the Extravaganza. I am coming from a cabin on the east side of Round. So something close to that would be great. Thanks.

So if I drive out from that landing and am off friday night I'll be ok? When will they close it, Sat. Morning? Thanks Gregg52

Some advice for keeping holes open when extremely cold. I take a coffee can or something similar and put a charcoal in it. One or two charcoals will burn well beyond tournament time. Set the can so it is on the very edge of the hole and no issues of freezing.

I guess we will have to fish side by side cuz the same thing happens to me.
