Morris Point Christmas Weekend Report

We stayed and fished out of Morris Point Christmas Eve day and Christmas Day. Lake was all but deserted. We saw maybe 10-15 trucks drive by all weekend. No noise on the ice might explain why the fish were biting all day.

The bite was steady from about 8:30 to 3:30 both days. We caught both eyes and saugers and didn't really get any of the dinky sized saugers we usually get. The eyes were between 15"-25" and saugers from 12"-16" in 25'FOW. Bounced bottom with the jig and brought it up a little and they would come up after it. Probably iced 80-90 fish including 4 huge pout which my better half cleaned and kept.

The hot jig was a glow pink ice tick and fire ant. Glow green iced some too as well as a halographic glow white JB jig. The ice road was pretty smooth after the first 200yds but they were plowing when we left this morning so it should be nice now. Maybe 4" of snow in some spots with some bare spots here and there.

Al and his son put us on the fish both days. One of the best trips we ever had. We had a Merry Christmas!!

nice report good to see that 80 to 90 that will keep you busy 5 days to go for me getting deeper already??

We are out off MP now....fished 27.5 for most of the day...pretty slow...moved to 30ish around 2:30 with only a few to show......think we cleaned around 12 for 3 houses...might need to go shallow. Thanks for your report.

We moved around between the brown houses 11,22&12 to the left of the road going out. There were only a few private houses around that area.
