Neither the rain or wind

Recommended Posts

Many folks have the luxury of looking at the weather forecast and deciding if they want to pursue fishing on that given day. For several of our customers who book their trips in advance, they have to deal with what mother nature gives us. These diehard customers still got it done today in very miserable conditions.

"Miller rigs" or "double-jig" rigs with 1 oz weight allows the angler control his presentation where traditional vertical jigging is almost an impossibility.1/8 oz buck tails and 1/8 plain jig and minnow are putting fish in the boat for our handful of customers dealing with the elements right now. The double rap rig is also an option for those who like to troll.

If you are lucky enough to find some fish in an area out of the big blow, blade baits are just starting to make a showing as well. Overall, the bite is at least average the past few days, and as water temps continue to fall, the bite will rise.

Thank goodness for goretex ! full-36030-2591-tom.jpg

Thanks Dean. I hope to get down there this weekend at some point as I think I shot enough roosters in SD last weekend to keep my dog happy for another week.

Miller rigs upstream into the current?

That is correct Turk. Casting or trolling, this rig allows you the ability to keep it right in front of the fish's face in the current seam in a very natural state. You can quickly identify buck-tail,plastic profiles,or live bait preferences for the mood of the fish on that given day.

Mike,Gus has been wanting to play with the pheasants too, glad you got your dog out for a fix!

The Miller rig...as I know it originated from customers that have coming here for well over 30 years.Their home water is the IL river and is used there as well. It is highly effective in specific current seams when stage & flow or wind eliminates vertical jigging. One of the nice features that we added, was the fast-snap,making changing out to the "hot" color or profile simple. Simple is my friend when it comes to fishing! :] Sometimes the old mainstays are tough to beat! Hope this helps! full-36030-2606-picture002.jpg
