Grouse hunting Duluth area and North?

MuleShack

Recommended Posts

We are going to be camping around Duluth area and wanted to take the gun along for some grouse hunting one day. What area would be good to hit up with the dog. Dont know the area very well, but I know there is state forest up that way as well as some public lands. What or where would be the best area to try?

Might go on Friday to avoid the weekend crowds.

Thanks

Plenty of public land up there. Check out the MNDNR site for maps to the state forests, otherwise check out the Superior National Forest website. You may have to order a map of the SNF, but for the $9 bucks or so it would be worth while. Lots of ground to cover, so enjoy yourself.

The SNF website will also have links to camping as does the DNR site for the forests.

There are several WMA's not far from Jay Cooke that have held grouse in the past for me. Do yourself a favor and check out the recreational compass on the DNR website.
