Just out of curiosity, what does the lake usually look like around Thanksgiving? Is she normally open yet?

Around Thanksgiving most of the small shallow bays are usually frozen over or at least skimmed over with ice. Big bay is much less predictable. I have walked out on a few years and caught my limit of walleyes through the ice and on other years I have been fishing out of my boat yet.

Last year was a strange one though, there was really no ice fishing ice until about the 10th of December, then there was very good ice quickly. I think most years there is ice, but I do know the last couple of years have been odd to say the least.

Burntside water temps on October 19th around 3 pm were 52 degrees on the surface, and remained at a constant 52 degree temperature down to 40 FOW.
