Powedrive V2 issue

big musk411

Question

My powerdrive V2 motor stopped working, the propeller stopped spinning. The steering seems to still work fine and I have the I-pilot system.

I took it apart and found line wrapped around the drive shaft near the shear pin. After removing the line it still does not work.

Upon taking it apart further, I found the magnet near the front of the lower unit is cracked in half -- my thinking is that this is the problem.

Can anyone offer guidance or coaching on fixing this? I have herd of a place in Bloomington that fixes motors too...

All my Best,

Matt T

I can't help with the fix but I know Fish'lectronics in Fridley on University is an authorized MinnKota repair facility. I have never had anything of my own fixed there but I also have not heard of anything bad from them either. Give them a call or stop by, maybe they can help.

Thanks Mucho!

It looks like an easy fix except for the wires that go into the magnet..I'll check with the guys in Fridly and Bloomington.

I need to remind my fishing buddies not to cast into the trolling motor and am now going to take the prop off my outboard and look at that too!

Thanks again,

Matt T
