Redtails in Duluth Area?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering why no bait shops carry red tail chubs in the Duluth area? Are they not native in the NE part of the state? Also, do you guys prefer shiners or lite pike? I have been having better sucess on the lite pike lately...

This time of year I like creek chubs or suckers in the 3"-6" range. I like creek chubs better because they move more. I use them on a lindy rig instead of the sucker minnow. Ill use the sucker minnows on jigs more where I can give them action.

You dont see many red tails at all. Rainbows are what you will see more of. Just as good if not better.

Red Tails are in short supply and their cost is ridiculous. shocked

As Northlander said, creek chubs are just as good, if not better.

Ya I know that creek chubs, rainbows, and suckers are good as well...I was more wondering why we don't see red tails for sale in this area of the state?? Short supply i'm guessing. I used lite pike all weekend and the eyes LOVED them.
