I see Larry Johnson was cut today. What do you think the odd's of them going after him, I am sure they could get him cheap. My opinion, go for it they need the help at running back and he could shine in this offense.

Zero. He's got nothing left in the tank. He had 5 carries for 2 yards this year.

There's a reason they cut him DURING the season.

sign him to the pratice squad

Not eligible. That's why free agent vets hang out there a while. Adalius Thomas still being a FA is an example of this, of course he wants too much money. He'll just hang out there until someone gets desperate.

i want to see clay matthews rip some heads off

+1!! I hope he can keep up half of what he has been doing the first two weeks. I would take that the rest of the season in a second!!!

The Bears o-line was letting the Cowboys get after Cutler early on. That line is terrible. Hopefully they have to devote extra players to block Matthews (like Buffalo did) so it messes with their offense.

Man, traveling to Soldier Field for a Packer/Bear game is at the top of my wish list. I wish I could go.

Hey Packer fans, this thread was burried on page 3, where is everyone?

Anyhoo, what a great football weekend, Badgers beat Iowa, Pack wins, Vikes and Bears lose. Does it get any better than that? 6.gif

Well, it was a win but I'm still critical of how good the Packers are right now. A defensive line of CJ Wilson, Jurius Wynn, and BJ Raji won't cut it for long. The Packers also need Al Harris and Atari Bigby back, although I think that Charlie Peprah has done a surprisingly good job at filling in for Burnett.

The running game is still a mess and Rodgers has not gotten on page with his receivers for more than a quarter at a time. I'm forever optimistic but forever analyzing.

has there been any talk when harris and bigby will be back? there were rumors they would come back last night but nope. Still happy how the o-line hasn't let rodgers get killed, no sacks last night when last year jarred allen had like 7 in the 2 games

Certainly Clifton was the big difference. He hasn't had a great year so far but he rose to the occasion in a big game. That gives me hope. Bulaga put together a nice game in Tauscher's spot. Ray Edwards is not an easy man to block.

The papers have been eerily silent about Bigby and Harris. Even before they were cleared to practice it seemed that reporters weren't doing any research. Is it that hard to interview them? Is it that hard to get an honest assessment out of the coach or GM? Well, maybe the latter is but you could talk to players too.

Those two will definitely help out a Packer team that has placed 8 players on season-ending IR, and missing 9 permanently if you include Jolly.

Poppinga and Neal are also going to be out for the rest of the year now.

Picket re-aggravated his ankle, Jenkins pulled his calf right before game time, and Brad Jones sprained his shoulder.

Harris and Bigby's status will be determined by the end of the week. With Pop and Neal on the IR, it does open up 2 spots, however I wouldn't be surprised to see them add another DLine if at all possible. The rumor has been that Harris is in better shape and will come back before Bigby, but who knows.

This is pretty messed up. 10 players on IR (including Neal and Poppinga) with Tauscher and Starks possibly heading there as well!

All these injuries just makes a fella wonder what kind of shape these guys were in coming into training camp -- and when training camp was done.

Ray Edwards is not an easy man to block.

LOL he isn't? Your talking about a pie stain that goes 1 on 1 week in and week out and gets only a handfull of sacks a season.

Within the context of the Viking's defense, I still believe that he's not easy to block. The other players command double teams so right tackles are frequently left 1-on-1 with Edwards. Yes he should be more productive but he's still good.

It was reported that rookie defensive tackle CJ Wilson tried to come off the field at one point when his helmet broke. The coaches waived him back on because there were no other players to take his place. I also read that the Packers at one point had offensive tackle TJ Lang playing on the D-line against the Vikings, likely after they realized they needed an emergency plan!

I read that as well. I have seen Lang in there on Goal Line situations this year, just because they need another big body. Their depth has just been devastated!! When you have a guy that was cut in training camp (Wynn), a 7th round rookie (Wilson) playing most of the game and an offensive lineman (Lang) playing in certain situations, you know you are hurting. A.P should have ran for 200 yards against us.

True, although I think that you'll see a few of the struggling NFC powers kick it into high gear for the second half of the season and playoffs. The beauty is that nobody is in a hole right now so this whole situation might work out best for the NFC if its teams peak in the playoffs versus the AFC earlier in the season. We'll see.

This is at least another reason why the NFL has jumped the shark.

Its going to be one of those wide open years, the Giants looked awful at the beginning of the year and look good now, so who knows.

Add Brad Jones (OLB) to the IR with a shoulder injury for the Pack. Another starter bites the dust. Frank Zombo (undrafted rookie) will start in his place, since Poppinga was put on the IR last week.

I think that brings the total to 12 players out for the year, with several more that are injured but should play again before the year is out. Hard to do anything good with than many players out. Let's hope no more starters are lost for the year.

I've heard people start to blame the team/coaches...I don't buy that unless it's all the same type of injury. To me injuries are just about luck in the NFL. Surely there are things that you can do to prevent them, but you can't prevent Barnett's wrist injury, or Burnett's knee injury, etc...

I think that the irony here is that injuries were a big problem on the O-line last year and save for Tauscher, the O-line is one of our only healthy positions besides WR, FB, and kicker/punter.

Well now, we weren't exactly firing on all cylinders when everyone was still healthy. However, I would agree that we likely would have found our groove. Now we'll never know for sure. It does highlight what good coaching and quality backups can do for a team.

I might also add that the Packers situation is good evidence for keeping the four game pre-season. If not for the extra NFL playing experience our backups got, they'd be starting without any real game experience. At least the coaches got a decent look at them in preseason games 3 & 4 while they got an opportunity to play for real, instead of just in practice. Just a thought.
