mille lacs night shallower trolling bite

I was thinking of taking my son up to mille lacs tonight to do some crankbait trolling.

I have done the fall trolling thing, but never this time of year.

Just wondering if there is a shallow water trolling bite anywhere yet?

Or would I be wasting my time.

My opinion is that you're never wasting your time and there are always some fish shallow, but I think the big numbers of fish are still out in the mid-lake areas. There are always some fish on the shorelines, but not the numbers now that you'll have when then water cools off.

I second that! Last weekend we got fish anywhere from 8-28 feet of water. The fish seem to be more spread out in the shallows. The bonus of the shallow water is the mixed bag of pike/smallies/eyes you can get.
