North Shore Salmon Fishing

Hello everyone, I saw on another fishing forum that pink salmon/humpies started stagin in late July and should be in rivers from two harbors north by now. Does anyone have info on the number sin the run or have you heard about people catching pinks up there yet/still. I am hoping to go up Tuesday but can't seem to find any info.

I would say it's still pretty early yet. Probably gonna be at least another 10 to 15 days before the pinks start showing up in rivers. When they do start running, the temperance and cascade rivers have pretty good numbers.

WHat is the best approach to catch these?

pretty much like fishing for loopers and stealhead in the spring. hand tied egg sacks plain or with a little yarn attached or plain yarn balls the size of a dime. you can drift the bait with split shots enough to bump bottom or with a snap on bobber set to the depth you are fishing as long as the bait is bumping bottom, i also put split shots about 10 in above the bait on this rig as well to keep the bait near bottom. if the bobber hesitates or goes under pull up your rod for there is no need to strike them, the fish will hook themselves. i use an 8 ft spinning rod with 8 lb. test. good luck.
