I will be going up to Pokie Sunday through Tuesday hoping to get out and chase some crappies. I am wondering if anyone would give me some help.

I don't fish pokegama a TON, actually not at all this year, but in the past I fished it fairly often. I never targeted crappies at this time of year, and I don't know that many other people do either. I do get a lot of them in the spring, so my only advice would be based on where there are in May/June. I would look for them suspended on the deep edge of cabbage weeds (around 20 ft.) in the Wendigo Arm (way in the east end), in Pools Bay, and Tioga Bay. I think electronics would be extremely helpful.

I don't think that was very helpful at all. Hopefully someone else can get you going.

Every fall they DO go on a feeding frenzy!Bait fish are key.Look for pods of bait on your electronics. All larger pan fish and game fish won't be far behind!Don't be afraid to search deeper drops for the largest crappies. They won't be below the thermocline for any length of time though.c63

Look to the edge of the cabbage is spots were you can find deep cabbage closest to shore. The bite has been very good for both the crappies and gills, the best crappie fishing of the year is now until ice up for us.

Good Luck~
