Anybody going to the meeting friday night about Farm Island and Big Sandy? I plan on being there.

I had a chat with Rick the area super and his position seemed set.

Putting a slot on gills without any limits on large specimens is ludicris...he said he could not get that to fly...only what has already been passed in the state.

Looks like we can expect nice limits of 10 inch or bigger gills...wonder how long that will last.

I thought the whole idea was to protect the quality.....

I hear ya on the gills. I've fished Farm Island for 11 years and have a hard time with how few fish over 19" I have caught. I have no problem catching fish up to 19" but anything over 19" is rare. I wish I had a history of fishing the lake prior to the 16"-19" protected slot. I wonder exactly what purpose that slot serves. Has the catch rate increased since the slot was imposed? I guess I'll find out.
