rain and bear behavior

none of my baits got hit on thursday, friday, or saturday....could this be due to the intense amount of rain fall that hit NE Minnesota???

I am up at grand rapids area and when it rained and blew for a couple nites, they did not touch the bait at all. I would say that it is a very good possibility that it is the case. ------57------

My baits were smoked right through the rain. I don't think bears care that much, especially if the baits are tucked into extremely thick areas.

I don't think bears are affected by light rain very much. Often times I've found them to be more active just after a rain, kind of like deer. Heavy rain and wind shuts them right down in my experience. I've logged lots of unproductive stand time in heavy winds and rain. I'm always the optimist though. As long as there is not thunder and lightning I just sit in the tree and hope the weather passes while shooting light is left.

Same here havent had any bear activity in a heavy rain or wind, dont think bear can use there sniffer or ears to well in all that comotion. I'll certainly sit out in the light to moderate rain thou. cant shoot a bear form the couch. Boar

I was out scouting before baiting several years ago. Everything looked pretty good. Then I came across a site that topped them all. All of the years spent searching, analyzing, experimenting and testing for the perfect bait site set-up all came together. There at the edge of the site clearing illuminated with rays of sunlight breaking through the canopy like a spot light everything now made perfect sense. No more endless hours enduring uncomfortable tree stands. There it was a couch!

You know bogwalker that gives me an idea. I bought a hard side camper that I turned into a deer hunting blind. Boy if I could pull this into a spot and set up a bait station within shooting distance I would have it made.

Ok I admit when i'm wrong, but I dont think i i have laughed this much at being wrong. Thanks bog, so how many bear have you taken from the couch anyway? I'll change my motto from couch to living room but it just dosent have the flare. Boar

How many bears have I taken from my couch? One particular overbearing male has tried to lay claim to my couch on more than one occasion. To end this ongoing nuisance I have added an overstuffed recliner that has drawn little interest from him and I have found to be even more comfortable.

Heading up to LV a week from today with the kids. Any advice for us? Staying on the West side but open to traveling if the weather permits.   The way the last few weeks have gone, might stay for good!!!

Do have Wi-Fi in your house. Your going to need that to work with any of the cameras that send a signal and video to your phone.  Hardwire is the best but battery power workers well for about two months then you have to pull them and recharge them.  It is nice to sit on a beach in Key West and keep an eye on your house when gone! 👌

With all the craziness in the world I’m looking at getting an outdoor security camera setup for my home. Anyone have ideas on what works well without a huge cost  and easy to do . Or is it better to go with a company to set it up.  We have recently had copper thefts in the area at farmers fields and bin sites and I know it will only gat worse as these things always do. I probably want something that hooks up to my phone as well and wondering if there is a good one with either battery life or if wired is better. Any thoughts are welcome.

Aren't they the ones that ran into problems about illegal bait? Anyone know how that turned out?

You launch on Moose Lake to get to the motorized portage. It's called Prairie portage. To get to the portage you put in at Moose Lake. From Moose you go into Newfound Lake. From Newfound you go into Sucker Lake. On Sucker is where Prairie portage is. There is a dock on the American side and on the Canadian side there is big sign welcoming you to Canada. Latourell's Resort runs the portage and the cost for the portage is $40 for a round trip.

Will that blond haired kid have that cool little orange boat in the show this weekend? Saw him driving around by Muskego Point a few times this summer.

Nope, there are parts of Basswood that allow motors.   Entry is from Fall Lake, and there is (I think) a motorized portage.   It is really popular in the spring...
