I'm looking for your suggestions and help with fishing with the warm water temps. Fishing the small lakes in the area, generally 12-18 ft max depth. no real structure, and the weeds that were there are flat on the bottom. Depth finder is locating fish suspended up to 5 ft off bottom. Lake is well known for crappie.

I fished it the other night, one rig on bottom, one approx 2 ft up and one 4 ft up. lindy rig on bottom with no spinner, moving .5 MPH or less. The other rigs were jigs. Both chartruse. Used a curly tail on one and a 3"gulp minnow on the other. Just about all the bites came on the gulp minnow, but it had to have a live minnow on it as well. switched the curly tail to a gulp and trolled with that alone- no bite, not even sheep head. Night crawlers didn't get a bite either. The curly tail was also tipped with minnow.

On the gulp, is the live minnow giving off a vibration-trying to swim, that is attracting the bite? Should have tried a small beatle spin for vibration to check that out. just curious on your thoughts

The night wasn't a bust, plenty of sheepys, couple crappie, perch, and walleye.

I would sit over the school and cast the gulp out on a 1/32 or 1/16 oz jig and swim it back in various styles (jig-drop, swim it...etc) to see if you can get a bite.

Kerry: you indicate three different rigs, bottom, 2 and 4 ft. were you fishing those all at the same time?

Just wanted to know if he was running them as downriggers, or just using duct tape to hold 'em in place....... smile
