Small boat in Zumbro River

Recommended Posts

Any body know if it would be possible to drop a small boat/motor in at the ramp in Hammond and motor upstream to Zumbro Falls? Don't mind getting out and pulling the boat thru small/ medium rapids but would like to get an idea.

Looks to be possible by looking at Google Earth but can't see any hazards if there are and sounds like there is alot of tubers there on the Weekends. Any info would be great. Thank you

It's pretty shallow and rocky. I tried it once with a canoe and it didn't workout so well. The other problem was, we'd drift downstream to fast to effectively fish any areas of the river.

Just put in in Zumbro Falls and float it down to Hammond. You can put in at the sportsman's club. We made the float about a month ago in a 12' boat. You would have to pull through quite a few rapids if the water is normal heighth. If it is high, you would be able to motor more. We've tried the upriver tactic before and only have done it for short distances before deciding it is too much work--even with boat and motor.
