Leech Lake Perch Late Summer Locations

Recommended Posts

Hello Iam not looking for anyone's secret spot, just wondering if there are any general types of areas to concentrate on in search of decent size perch. For example, some of my more productive early season spots in Sucker Bay have been pretty dead lately. Should I be looking at shallow reed beds? Are there any general areas or types of cover that I should be targeting in the mid to late August timeframe?

Thanks

I've done very well for perch the past couple of weeks fishing shallow rushes & weeds. 3-5 FOW in several cases. 1/16 oz white jig with a bit of leech or crawler has worked well. You'll have to sort through small ones, but I've caught plenty of 9-11" fish, and even one 13 incher.

Thanks, Thatoneguy. i will be up there next week and will start my perch search in some shallow reeds. I suspect that a slab gill or two might also be part of the action in such territory.
