Since this is a gardy subject, no more of after a day off and a day off in 3 days, no more of the pavano, butera expieriment. You better not use it in the postseason, time to get rid of it. If Pav cant pitch to Mauer, you cant pitch him.

agree. no reason to continue with this unless it happens to be a case where pavano pitches on a day game following a night game which are usually games that mauer sits. certainly can't believe this would continue into the playoffs so let's be done with it.

We need that DH spot for Thome in the playoffs and we need Mauer in the lineup...Butera has been great for the Twins in the regular season but postseason is different. We need all the help we can get.

Have you missed the last 2 seasons? Or maybe your cable or satellite TV is turned off! grin

Hopefully Delmon Young is back it's always fun to hit a HR on your Birthday! smile

We all have our favorites, but you cant honestly say Matt G deserves to pitch in that role when we have 4 other pitchers in the pen better than him.

Most here wanted to send Jesse Crain packing a month or 2 ago.

look at how many games Crain has cost this team in the past. He'll have to continue this pace for a long time to make up for it.

Guerrier's monthly numbers since July 1:

July - ERA of 8.00

August - ERA of 5.27

September - ERA of 4.50 (and climbing fast - it would be worse if Crain hadn't saved his bacon a couple of times)

Batters are hitting .381 with an OPS of 1.028 against Guerrier this month. He's allowing more than two baserunners per inning pitched.

You just can't put a guy like that in a key spot. Can't.

Good thing Crain has turned his trainwreck season around and somehow morphed into the best setup guy in baseball in the second half. Weird, I know!

Well..... Ell just froze over and Cuddy finally hit a HR at Target Field! shocked

He looked as surprised as anyone in the Park. grin

Anyway hopefully we can clinch and give some of the players a bit of rest particularly Cuddy who needs a blow "rest". I assume Morrales is the back up 1st basemen??????

On a more important note how long is Mauer going to be out for with the knee injury????

mauer hits for avg= 2nd in the AL

74 RBI in 500 at bats

Id say he doesnt need to hit many HRs the way he is

It was his first in a few months.

On a side note and what is truly sad is Delmon remains lost at the plate and in the field of course. .295 and sinking but then again he's a career .292 hitter and has only been in the league for 7 years now so maybe one day he'll put together more than one good month in a full season.

"SMIRK"

We can hope I guess! smirk

Go Twins~Go Delmon!

so Delmon is having a career year (better than -cough cough- has ever had), more RBIs than Cuddmoneywaster from the END of the batting order and youre still not pleased....

So was anyone watching the Twins on Sunday when the ump called Thomes pop up a dropped ball, then Young doesnt tag up, and runs to second. Then they review it, and switch the call and call it an out, then call Young out at second for not tagging up? Kinda sad play if you ask me! Young ran to second because the ump called it a dropped ball, then after a meeting of the umps, they change the call, and now its a double play?

Ichiro Suzuki hits for a high average also and and only makes 17mil. If Mauer is not going to provide a bit more power and thus RBI production in the next 8 years, I would say that he will be at least 7 mil overpaid.

I've read it all season long from you about Mauer being overpaid. Seriously, just put it in your signature and move on.

how many doubles and rbi does ichiro have?

If Ichiro batted third, his avg would be like .140 cause hit into fielders choices all the time

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
