Can you please move Delmon up in the lineup some more???? How nice would it have been to have Delmon drive in Mauer with NOBODY out in the 9th and have the tying run on with NOBODY out instead of watching Cuddy hit with his hands around his throat again and Kubel flailing at a pitch down and in AGAIN.... If he can hit 3rd, when Mauer is out, why can't he hit 4th with Morneau out????

How much longer are they going to allow cuddy to ruin this ball club?

I get a sick feeling when he steps up to the plate. He can't see the ball or something.

I was at the game tonight...pretty sickening.

How do you score 6 runs in an inning and still lose? Our pitching really hurts now and the Cliff Lee trade would be nice about now.

Cuddy is valuable to the TWIN'S, in a lot of ways.....Young is valuable to the TWIN'S in a ....ok, only his bat...put him at DH against lefties, and get Kubel out of there (4 K's, last night). Thome isn't what he once was either. A rh outfielder with speed is a need....Kubel is tradeable.

Slowey and Blackburn need to learn different speeds, or a splitter, to be more successful....they are getting "timed".

Cuddy is basically a Punto with Pop. Nothin more. Delmon will be the real deal, a player that we need to hold onto in the place of Cuddy for the future. Cuddy plays a great RF,, and oK other spots, but sucks in the clutch in a AB.

How about a real Closer??-- Rauch has been lucky and fresh to the teams in the first half, now teams are getting to him. The Twins will need more than what they currently have, or have players step up big time, to make the PS.

Where would the Twins be without Delmon Young??

soldoncass you can call the above stats lucky our you can call them good. either way if we got this kind of production out of cuddy batting in the main rbi positions all year, we'd still have the central division lead by several games. one of the announcers mentioned thursday night during the game that young leads the majors in batting with risp.

You guys blaming everything on Cuddyer must leave the room when our pitchers are on the mound then you must not notice the score.

Cuddyer IS NOT the reason we lost the lead in the division. 2 reasons:

OUR PITCHING is HORRENDOUS. Not Cuddyers fault we lose by 4-7 runs. Thats the pitching. Just last night Rauch was well on his way to blowing a 5 run lead in the 9th.

The White Sox just went 25-5!!!! That is one he**uva run.

Yeah, if Cuddyer got 2 RBIs a game, that would sooooo make up for the pitchers giving up 5-9 runs a game. Sorry Greebs, but that doesn't make any sense. Lirianos last start before the All Star break he didn't get out of the second inning and allowed 6 runs. Cuddyers fault. 2 nights ago, Slowey had us down 4-0 after 2, Cuddyers fault. How dare he not get an RBI everytime he comes up?

Where would the TWIN'S be without Young????????????Good question:Probably a couple games worse off....most likely has driven in more runs than he COST them with shoddy defense, and base-running. He has been a good second clean-up guy.

Where would the TWIN'S be without Morneau?????????Ouch, that woulda hurt...probably 10 games out at least.

Where would the TWIN'S be without CUDDY?????????Probably about the same spot, but they would have HAD to make lots of moves to fill in injury spots, that CUDDY filled in at adequately. Like to see more of his AT'EM smashes find gaps soon.

Where would the TWIN'S be without Maurer?????????????? Even though he has slumped, and been beat-up this year, other teams change their approach(O&D) because of him. Probably 10 games back or more.

Where would the TWIN'S be without the M&M boys??????????????be a shoe-in for # 1 draft pick!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Twins should call up Anthony Slama from AAA and let him take over the close roles. With Gardy's horrible closer managing techniques, he completely took away Raush's biggest asset, which was his durability. So far this year, with Gardy only using our closer in extremely limited roles (like he had always done with Nathan), Raush has logged just 30 innings, while in the past he has been able to average 80 innings/season, which means he appeared in about half of the teams games. He is on pace for like 60 innings, which is diminishing his value because we aren't using his durability anymore, something our bullpen could really use with a bunch of starters lasting only a couple innings into games as of late. Raush has shown he can log serious innings, but now that he is our closer, Gardy refuses to use him in non save situations, like a tie ball game in the 8th or 9th inning when we have already exhausted our best bullpen arms. If we called up Slama, let him take over the closer role, it would be a huge asset to our bullpen by letting Gardy use Raush MUCH more often

no doubt the starting pitching has been very detrimental the last few weeks. let's not forget though that there's been a few 7-5 or 8-7 type games the team has lost that still could have been won had there been a few more clutch hits.

one other thing to mention. of course it wasn't intentional but had cuddy not been batting behind morneau and hit another double play ball, morneau would have gotten the concussion. again not saying it's cuddy's fault but had gardy put him lower in the lineup where he belongs, things would be different today.

YAAAAA...we just saw Rauch's non-save situation last night. eek

Haven't seen anything that bad since the night before(Burnet).

# of innings don't mean much with a closer....being able to pitch consecutive days means more.

Not sure Slama is ready for the closer roll....Crain and Keppel were good closers in the minors also, how did they do in the majors? Crain showed something last night, but sure hasn't been consistent.

Gardy gets more out of his bullpen than anyone can expect from the average arms there.

Todays report: CUDDY started the rally with a double, scored on a BLOOP by Young, who scored on a triple by Kubel, who scored on a double by Valentia(game winner). Aren't TEAM games fun????? Everybody has to do their jobs for the team to be successful. None of the above would have mattered though if Pavano hadn't done his....AGAIN.

Everbody WAS IN the right batting order....and to put the record staight....Cuddy did NOT hit into a DP (when Morneau got hurt), Kubel did that next batter.

Buerle does have a "well camoflaged" balk move, but where did Young think he was going on first??????steal????oops, picked off.

and to put the record straight morneau broke up the double play ball that cuddy hit. unfortunately it was with his head and the rest is history.

Good TEAM WIN.....Valencia is doing good with the bat, needs to improve defensively, but he's NOT going ANYWHERE playing like he is. Casilla and Tolbert will have to step-up bigtime to be called up.

PERFECT batting order again......Young is right where he needs to be.....protects the bottom of the order and gives us another clean-up guy. Hardy is really playing well right now......Hudson too. Twin's are getting dangerous again.

I was beginning to think Gardy had a lineup card that had Delmon preprinted in the 8 slot.

Young did a good job in #3 hole today, but.......from the TEAM ANGLE (not Delmon's agent's angle)moving him up , may have hurt the # run's we scored. Look at Thome's #'ers 4(4 walks, they wanted nothing to do with him), and they had NO respect for hitters after Thome(and Hardy has been hitting well). Just think how many rbi's Young "could have had" today. Kubel has been a liability lately. Mauer and Kubel both look like they need a few days off.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?
    • LakeofthewoodsMN
On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭
    • Rick G
Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
