Was out there all day today, set up in about 8fow ended up with a couple, but I should have had a lot more...The gold and orange tingler was hot until I had one break my line and take it...The morning the fish were really aggressive and the afternoon I had a lot of hard charging fish then put the breaks on when they got to my jig...Very frustrating, but it was nice to actually see fish on the flasher unlike my first trip..Back at it all day tomorrow...PS Does anyone know who carries the 3/16oz gold/orange tingler around here??? I checked Marine General and they didn't have much...left

Your best bet is to order off of VMC's website or go to rapalas website and then to VMC. I know we blew a lot of them Tinglers out of Marine General and Gander Mt. the last 2 weekends.

If you cant find any PM me I may have 1 extra.

Went out today ( Thursday). Rode a wheeler out of the park at the end of the point. Lots of units way out. We stayed away and set up in 10 FOW. Sun was out and bright. Only one taker in two hours (15 incher) at the first spot. Moved further down toward Duluth and set up looking right at the High Bridge. Clouds moved in and we got 4 more W's all on gold pimples. Left right after dark. 12 to 18 inches of ice. Several 1/2 tons on the ice off of Park Point.

Was out by Genesis Attachments today I got one on a tip up and that's all I got.After spending 5 hours out there never fished there was not that great. Anybody been fishing nebagamon or any lakes out that way how is it??

Went out yesterday, got 3 eyes and a perch in the morning then not much in the afternoon, my buddy got 1 little eye and a 52" sturgeon....It was his first sturgeon and the first one I had ever seen...Such a cool fish

Had a little wind tonight. Hard time keeping the sled from flipping over on me. Wondering how the hub style houses kept them on the ice. At least the fishing was lousy sometimes I wonder why we keep doing this. What a workout coming back in.

Thinking about it...might try way up river to at least get out of the wind....i was also wondering if this nasty cold front will shut off the eyes,fishing has really slowed down the last two weeks where ive been setting up...

Braved the cold,and hit the river this morning..3 eyes,one keeper...fish were not very aggressive,as figured..all three were on deadsticks

When its cold like this do you guys tend to find the fishing better a little deeper like the 10-13ft range or do you guys still find good fishing up on the flats?? I'm going to head out in the morning and I'm thinking I'm going to try a little deeper...Any input would be awesome..See ya out there

For the last three years I have fished 60-70 days a year on bay. What I have found is fish shallow humps and flats 30min before sunrise. Once the sun is above the trees move deep. You can get them to bite all day, just have to work for them. Move shallow again an hour before sunset, and fish that until 30-45 mins after sunset. Again I'm not a pro or know everything but I have put a lot of time in on the bay, moving is the key with the sun. Cold, warm, windy or snowing this tactic has produced fish.

How is the landing looking as far as driving out there? I'd like to drive my car out there, but if the landing is messed up or something I'd rather walk.

I didn't look at the landing itself but the parking lot is all messed up. That being said there were several trucks that went in/out using it. Managed a couple eyes last night though they were small. Lots of lookers.

The last few days on the river have been COLD setting up but the fishing seems to have picked up. I think stable weather is the key. Seems like when the weather is bouncing back and forth the fishing does as well.

The numbers of fish has gotten better but size is lacking lately with a 26"er being the biggest this past week.

No real hot baits lately. I have been catching fish on just about anything with white and pink. The VMC Tingler and the rattlin flyer in rainbow are consistent.

Setting up and taking down has been a bit chilly but once in the new Otter 1200 full thermal I have been toasty. Ill never own a non thermal house again. Even in -18 degrees I had no dripping and kept warm with only my lil buddy heater.

As far as depths I have been fishing 6-9'. Also the deastick is starting to catch more fish. I use a plain Glow VMC #4 hook and place the split shot 6"-12" up depending on how much I want the minnow to move. Lately I have anchoring them in place more. When fish wont chase I find that helps out.

One thing I noticed lately is that the fathead parts are catching more fish jigging than shiner parts but on the deadstick shiners have been better.

I saw a car get stuck last night out there so be careful in these COLD temps.

I still find it hard to believe folks drive cars/trucks out on this river!!...parts of Canada ya maybe but this far south I don't know!!

Everybody in the entire Twin Ports must have been on the SLR off of Park Point on Wednesday. We saw that and went up river near Riverside. Didn't find any walleyes, but some crappies were hanging around the the Indian Point area.

My buddy is coming to town this weekend with his 8 x 16V Ice Castle and I'm looking for some honest opinions about pulling it off Park Point. Now my buddy is physically handicapped and using his house is his only option for fishing. I saw at least two trucks off Park Point this afternoon, but I'm still not convinced it's safe. Any opinions would be appreciated.

I wouldn't recommend it. especially if there's a second layer. Dont be the second guy to loose an ice castle through the ice this year just for a few fish,although this is quite the cold snap. I would at least wait til the cutter stops going through.

Alot of Brave soles driving around out there. I was up river and there driving up there also. How long before one goes for a swim. Use your head people its a river with current and in some spots lots of it. Your not playing with a inland lake. Any way the fishing was good to great for us tonight acouple for the pan and the rest back. If your on them there biting nothing special.

Has anybody been on the harbor with their atv? Just wondering if there is too much snow/slush for my rig. The one year I need to have a sled, I buy a quad!

As of last week there was only about 2-3" of snow on the ice with close to 14" of ice so an atv should be no problem

You can ATV, Sled or truck out there but stay away from the channel with your trucks.

I have had the ATV out there over the last 2 weeks. Had 16 inches last Friday. I would not have a truck out there until the CG Cutter stops breaking ice. Good luck!

      I have heard it's because of the drought. I know in my area ( meeker co.) the sloughs that they trap minnows in have dried up.

      Excuse my ignorance, but was is driving the bait prices? Usually the shortage is due to a late ice-out from the swamps and streams. This year should have been much better.

      I should probably learn to use the 6+ containers of lures I have collecting dust in my tackle box. We got on a decent crappie bite the last couple of evenings and I broke out some plastics.  I caught some crappies on them ,just need to build my confidence in using them! I did notice they didn't seem to hold on to them as long as minnows!

      Absolutely. I get full bars all-along the drive from Cook to The Landing, and out into Head O Lakes bay. I can't say that I've stared much at my phone signal anywhere else besides on my way to Black Bay. We still don't get much for service there because there are a lot of steep slopes with tall trees in the way. That was expected though. The tower is definitely providing better service to the area in general IMO.

      Went in to Lucky 7 to get some crappie minnows today. All they had were crappie minnows and fatheads. She said to call in advance for the opener, couldn't say for sure if they'd have rainbows, shiners, etc for opener!
