St. Louis River Fishing Reports

Recommended Posts

Way below bullheads?! Whats wrong with bullheads? I've had some darn good eating bullheads, maybe not from the St. Louis, but in other places they are superb.

Anybody having any luck on the bay? I have went off parkpoint a couple times now in the last week and I fished anywhere from 6-14 fow and nothing. Anyone have any tips for the last week or so before I put the ice fishin gear away for another year??

Thanks

Its SLOW out there. I got 2 10"ers and 1 23"er tonight. Unless we get fresh fish in real quick it will be slow til the end.

is there anywhere to get on the ice up stream of the bay safely?somewhere between spirit lake & high bridge from mn side? or do i need a wisc license to get on ice from wisc side?does anyone also think maybe the fish are hold up somewhere there or spread out all over the river.thanks.

northlander...are you ok?lol forums been quiet lately.

I believe that your okay with your mn license because the river is a border water. I do not know of any good access points down there, but I do encourage extreme caution. With this last weeks weather, ice conditions could of changed. I personally don't mind roughing it on foot rather than driving, it's good excersize anyway! Good luck this last period of fishing for the season!!! Open water will be flowing soon, then all of us that bought new summer gear at the boat show can log some consumption time. Later dudes!!

My thought is they are between the 2 big bridges. From talking to guys who have fished arrowhead area and spirit they arent seeing any big runs of fish yet.

Ya Im ok but a little sick lately. I think its a sinus infection or something. Its cutting into my fishing time but I suppose now is a good time to rest up for the march crappie bite. Plus if I post too much on the bay lately I get too much hate mail and flaming. crazy

I was out on Wednesday and it was dead. Maybe there is one more good day left before closing.

Dead people, I have been looking for places I would go if I was a running walleye. Places where you'd think they would be congregating. No luck. I would guess that more walleyes will start to show up after close of season. Obviously! Good luck these last days. Getting pumped for crappies and gills. Never have I ventured for pannies on the river. Anyone know of a good starting point. I have been told kimbals bay produces some crappie action

Jarrid getting good crappie info for the river is like trying to get muskie and steelhead info. Your pointed in the right direction for starters though.

Was out there last night...3 cigars. Seems like its mostly small resident fish. Not many fresh fish moving in. You would think there would be more numbers moving in by now?

It was the same exact deal last year, by mid feb fishing shut down. What i think is a group of "early fish" come in the river first, about a month or two before all the other ones come in and thats what we got in jan and early feb. All the others will start coming in soon as the temps warm up and it gets closer to spring.

Fish will be all the way from the d a m to the entries. We have caught post spawn females on the lake for about 3 weeks.

Im sure most fish have spawned and will have the feed bag on. Lots of males will still be up top and females can be anywhere.

Ill be up top jiiging for some action and then move down on the flats later. I like any flat no matter how small. A place where the eyes will go rest out of current and put the feed bag on.

Spirit Lake always has fish in it this time of year. Arrowhead flats will as well. The bays will too.

This year there will be fish all over and it will probably be a little harder to find the big females but finding walleyes shouldnt be hard at all.
