Fishing was good again, Drilled alot of holes till we found them, but when we did it was fast action. The crappies bit best for us from 1pm till 3pm. The dinky 7 t 8 inch sunnies were everywhere, the craps were mixed in. If you went 5mins without a bite you moved holes. Caught the biggest of the day while my buddy was drilling 10' away, must have attracked it. Also managed 1 small eye. Jig heads with rubber tails worked good as well as darters.

Went to Byllesby yesterday and we had a blast. We marked fish the entire time and caught 12 walleyes 17" - 24". Fished from 4-7:30. we were in 14 fow about 100 yards from the huge community out there. Caught a few smaller crappies, two white bass, and a cat fish too. Best day of fishing I have had in awhile thats for sure. A red buckshot rattle spoon was the ticket out there tipped with a fathead or waxy.

Went to winona tonight and caught a couple smaller crappie and a bunch of dinky sunfish. Going back to Byllesby this weekend since its the same distance away for me.

Maybe a little strip of a yellow softball t-shirt would work! I bet you could come up with lots of those.

Heading to the mn city boat harbor in the mourn, followed by an afternoon at winona lake, anticipating a tough bite, beats sitting at home. I'll post how it goes.

grinLOL I tried this already I think my shirts have the wrong smell to them this time of year so the fish aren't going for them maybe this summer they would work better. Hit me up Ron we caught some monster crappies last weekend 2 at 15 inches and about 18 more in the 12 to 14 inch range send me a message I will let you know the hot lures and spot!!

Any of you guys having much crappie luck on Lake Winona the last couple days?? Only get 1 day to fish this week and I'm trying to make the most of it. Don't need to give your secrets away, just curious if they are turned on. If they are, time of day would be much appreciated.

The bite was good today cosidering the gail force. We got to the lake at noon and the crappies started biting right away until 4. They were About 2' off the bottom. We kept enough for a good meal and released a bunch of eaters. They were hitting anything small in you box tipped with a waxie or berkley, heck we even got a few with a bare jig!

in this weather i would use a round one that covers the hole so it does not freeze up. use a big trouble hook with a small spinner above it so it is legal. (cant use plain trouble hook) Big fathead minnow or small sucker minnow work best on Winona. I hook right behind dorsal fin and put about 5 feet down. Good luck.

Was out in Winona and we had a great time catching pannys. They were hitting early in the day then slowed down towards noon. They were also finnicky eaters, would see them on sonar, they'd come up look and go back down. I caught my limit though and was out by noon when it slowed down.

the fish bite out there all day long if you can find them. some people say 7-11, 10-12, 4-7pm, etc.. If you get on top of them you can catch them. Mobility is key out there and being very quiet.

the little ones that come up on the sonar and go away are usually sunnies. That is my experience with the fish camera anyway. The crappie are pretty finicky though. They will come up and check out the bait for 10-15 seconds before nibbling at it. Anyway good luck out there guys. I found a new hole that is closer to where I live so I'm going to be out there until the fishing slows down. we have been slaughtering them out there.

If you want to see some pics they posted them outside on the wall at that bait store on 63 with 2/10 on the pics.

I went out to Winona on friday night to fish next to my dads icecube iceshack. We left around 8pm. The next day at 530 AM when my dads friend went out someone had destroyed his shack. The straps were cut and they sliced the walls. so between 8pm friday and 530am saturday is when it was vandalized.

Does anyone have any idea who would have done this? It was way out all by itself by the open water not around anyone. There was another guy fishing kind of close to where we were when we left but I would hate to think a fellow fisherman would do that. What was the point in it?

at 530am it was already destroyed so I am guessing someone did it late friday night. Would have made more sense to me to steal it or something but to just go out and wreck it is pointless. No worries though, karma repays everyone.

Sorry, to hear that. People got no life to go and do some stupid !@#* like that. Its already cold enough to be out there fishing and stupid people have to be out there in the cold and do something like that. Sorry for your dad, and I hope karma does come around for them!

Don't take me wrong, I'm not anti-technology.  Battery powdered items will always have their place.  I'm mean you don't want your girl friend or wife in the bedroom playing for their gas powered adult toys!!  That would be a bit loud and smokey!

That’s right. My 84 year old dad loves his electric chain saw. Light weight and quiet. Besides, at his age he’s not cutting a bunch. Where as myself I want something with more power and heavier duty.  Look at how many people have switched back to gasoline cars after running one in winter if you travel a lot.   As long as my strike master works I’ll keep using gas. Maybe my next will be electric, but who knows,  you can find used gas ones pretty reasonable as others buy electric.

I think electric items have their places, I just don't think large commercial jobs are going to be able to work well with them. Can't see a logging crew out in the woods all day changing batteries!
