2 fumbles lost the fist one was charged to Favre. The First one was Peterson's fault for not having the presence to keep his arms far enough part to receive the ball and it didn't help matters that Favre had to lunge to get the ball to him. And it still was 3 fumbles in a game a dependable running back cant do that in a championship game. Defend him all you want those fumbles cost us 14 points and 2 possessions

The 2 fumbles A.P. had never cost the Vikes anything. They were both recovered by the Vikings and picked up first downs after to continue the drive. The Favre/Peterson fumble only led to no points being scored by the Vikes.

Published 2 weeks ago before the Dallas game, but still relevant:

Possible Tragic Figure: How can you pick between Brett Favre, Adrian Peterson, Brad Childress, Wade Phillips, Tony Romo, Roy Williams, Marion Barber and Shaun Suisham? Any of them could single-handedly derail this game. Of all of them, Peterson has the most to lose (he's one more big fumble away from being saddled with permanent fumbler stigma) and Childress has the least to lose (short of coming out after halftime without pants, or actually setting a challenge flag on fire and burning it, he couldn't do anything that would shock Vikes fans).

It's not just the hometown rubes who know it...

The ESPN guys are all over it.

More to come.

The Favre/Peterson fumble happened at the 10 yard line, and when the game ended as a tie, that fumble (which was at least 3 points lost) was HUGE

And dont forget the home town rubes forcasted this ,in a indirect way, . Was this an act of a many a prophet or a jinx.

How about the fumble he chased down and recovered? That was the most amazing play of the game in my opinion - pure athleticism.

If you're a Vikings fan and are Pro-trading AP... You don't know anything about football. Sure he fumbles now and again, but first off, fumbling can be corrected (ask Tiki Barber). Secondly, even if he fumbles he's still a HUGE part of our offensive success. Every time AP is on the field he helps our offense, even if he doesn't touch the ball. Opposing defenses game plan around Adrian Peterson. If you take away AP and put Chester in the backfield you won't get the extra defender in the box - That means no deep balls to Sidney Rice, no wide open slot receivers... basically it means we wouldn't be an elite offense.

Bass N Spear...

I just wanted to point out how he made a great play after the fumble. He beat out 3 defensive men to the ball, who were all in better position to recover the fumble. OBVIOUSLY the fumbles were a bad thing, but thanks for reiterating again for us all.

OK, so now the Vikes had already lost that game in the 1st half? Second half was irrelevant? 12 men in the huddle meant nothing? Interception was meaningless? Cointoss in OT was not a factor? Nothing that happened in the 2nd half meant anything?

if AP can skate maybe he should try hockey. atleast he wouldnt have to hold on to anything but a stick. but then again he would probably drop that too! maybe he should carry a football filled with lead around all off-season.

"Ball's on the ground! Ball's on the ground! Give the ball to Peterson: ball's on the ground!"

I thought I was getting over it but this pregame has stirred up my buried emotions.

I'm glad Peterson isn't kicking and stomping his feet like a little baby, thats what the rest of the league does when they don't make enough money.

Peterson one of if not the best RB in football is making only 760k this season, he's one of the lowest payed players on the Vikes roster.

Kluwe make more money for crying out loud lol!!

The only reason he's not the BEST is his fumbling problem. Hopefully he addressed that in the offseason. It sounds like he may have.

You're right though, incredible value for a guy who has already played 3 seasons and delivered some barbaric punishment to DB's and LB's. With the way contracts are setup, the guys who are really risking everything are the ones playing their guts out on a rookie contract. Major injuries must be in the back of their mind.

Forsure, but the BEST changes every year and he's definitely been in the top 2 or 3 since he's been in the NFL. He's a proven player, some of these RB's have a breakout year then go downhill.

We have alot of nice young talent that are gonna be looking for paydays, If Peterson was being a baby like all the other NFL players we'd be totally screwed right now.

I'm glad he's a Viking, he brought this team from duds to studs his rookie year pretty much by himself. He's gonna have a big pay day!!

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
