Cold and frosty morning... BIG MATURE BUCK! Way to go!

Speaking of a giant our local paper zone 1 last day of rifle some guy was pictured with a boone and crockett class buck. Nice pictures guys and hopefully we'll see a few more with this weather system approaching and snow pictures!

Same deer pictured here from 2 weeks prior when hunting with my daughter. Only had the muzzy with that weekend - so no doe tag (Lottery zone)

Came back 2 weeks later with the bow and sealed the deal within 10 min.

Just a couple quick things. It is interesting seeing the big bucks from November 24th. My buddy shot a huge 164" 10 that afternoon with his bow.

Reguarding the moultrie 80s. I love mine. I just bought another one on sale yesterday. I know Walmart.com has the 100s on sale for $129.....at least they were yesterday.

Truth, now you got my curiosity up. Have anything besides anecdotal evidence to prove that's the same doe? smile

No really, is she the only one you had in the area?

Photos and behavioral differences between her and her two fawns and the other group of 8 deer.

Story in archery pic forum if interested.

Honestly the 10th arrow I've shot from a compound bow. I have the strength to hold steady for quite some time, and don't get deer fever shakes like many would think.. but i spend a lot of time in the woods with a gun. Point and shoot isn't too difficult either. I'm glad i made a good shot, but hours of time in the woods and good mental preparation makes it as easy as target practice.

I wanted to see if bow hunting would be worth the investment. Still not sure to be honest. It opens up the opportunity to shoot a doe in a lottery area, which can be handy. But at this point I'm torn as to whether I'll buy a bow for next year not.

Hey James,

I know 3 guys that all shot nice bucks on Nov 26th....

I have recently reviewed a boatload of trail cam pics from this fall. Interestingly enough, I have no idea how I missed it but, from Oct 26th to Nov 3rd, I have a lot of buck vids/pics on cam and no question rutting.... Chasing does in the vids even.. Not a single pic/vid of a buck during daylight mind you..... But no doubt rut....

Fast forward a month.. Hmmm.... Second rut, and guys bagging mature bucks....

nice job truth

Looks like I will have to give them a try. There are a lot of bad review about them on amazon. Great pic quality, but the cameras themselves had a lot of bugs. I dont know if you guys lock your cameras up, but I use Camlockbox on my bushnell and they are awesome. Can also be found on amazon. Thanks for the reviews.

I am to the point where I dont trust online reviews on Amazon, Cabelas, Basspro, etc.... pretty easy for competition to review things negatively to draw attention to their products/services...

I prefer to get reviews on things from friends, friends of friends, or reviews on local forums such as this....

With that said.... I love my Moultrie M-80's.....

Very nice, looks like an especially big bodied deer.

He looks like he was rubbing hard before you shot him sledneck.

yep

and 5 minutes behind a doe

very nice buck sled. Congratulations!

Posted

That's a great looking deer sled, nothing better than having a lone doe go by without detecting you, then it's ok how big is he ? Nicely done.

Posted

Looks like a big body on that one sled, did you get a weight?

Posted

didnt weigh it

maybe 200?

Posted

That wouldn't be too far off in either direction, that is an awesome photo and I'm not talking rack, look at that deer without eyeing the rack, he's mega cool.

great looking buck

Those flooding problems are a sign of your needle and seat are leaking.  If the needle has a ring around the tip you can clean it if it's brass. If it has a black rubber tip then it needs to be replaced. You can clean the needle and seat with things like rubbing compound or even toothpaste I use a product called Semi chrome. It for polishing die pins. Just clean them up after polishing.

All of those Polaris sleds from that era were notorious for flooding and leaking. I've still got a 2003 XCSP 600 Edge that my daughter rides. As you noted, you need to shut off the fuel in those situations.

Yes, but it could make for an amazing walleye opener.

How old is your belt?   My old Polaris 4 wheeler with belt drive was bogging at mid range to top end last year.  Changed the belt and that problem went away.

Previous owner (22 years and 5,000 miles ago) said it was prone to flooding when sitting for a long time or trailering, so I shut the fuel off in both cases.   Primary is significantly worn.  I replaced several rollers and pins which helped.  I have two used clutches in much better condition that I could (and should) install.   It seems more like when I hit the throttle, but the bog could be from poor clutch shifting.  Will have to pay attention next time and inspect the clutches.  Thanks for the ideas.

Nope, he beat me fair and square, all his.  This weather had been depressing. As it sits now we are looking at a later than normal ice out. I hate scrabbling with docks, lifts, boats right before opener. Also limits some pre opener crappie chances.

👍 when/if i get drawn.....which i should know about june 1 we'll get in touch........both my kid and myself should get drawn.   and thanks.........with 6 preference points............i think are odds are pretty good.............there giving out 375 permits......and since we had yogi and booboo destroy my birdfeeders last spring......🙄

In those years Polaris was known to put buna tipped needles in there sleds. They get a ring around the seat and don't seal shut. But if that would be the case your problem would be with the motor shut off and filling the crankcase with gas. If your plugs are brown that is were they should be. I wouldn't drop that needle down to the last grove. I would replace them before I did that. I have never had a carb with that setting. Have you looked at your clutches? They could be dirty or have a bad roller.  Does it bog as it's accelerating or when you hit the throttle?
