My best clue to give me that this is the same buck is the how the tip curves on the right side of the antler. He knows for sure as he can turn the deer to the angle that was like in the trail cam picture.

looks like the same deer to me cept it's dead in the 2nd pic. heeheehee

Posted

yup, definetly same deer. Hard to see in that cam pic, but the pure white tip on the opposite beam, along with the bent right antler main beam tip, plus the brows are exact match as well. I had lots of trail cam pics to verify from. He walked the same logging road and did the same scrape over and over. He looks big the way his rack shoots up so high, but the main beams were only 21.5 inches so he settled somewhere between 130-135 inches.

I see where you guys are undoubtedly right, but I thought the same thing as NW Buck that it looked a lot bigger dead then it did on the trail cam pic. I guess posing them makes a difference...

Thank you Dinnerpail, yes, I had it scored at the Grand Rapids home show saturday morning.

Nice buck again smalley, congrats. what were the first two mass measurements on that deer. looks in that 5-6 " plus range.

Posted

Beautiful buck! That dude has some serious mass....

I'd say he scores beautifully, that deer is why so many of us love deer hunting and sometimes dream of a great buck like that guy, way cool thanks for sharing. Better use industrial strength supplies to hang that guy on the wall.

Got my deer mount back a couple weeks ago. I had them use the new 6900 series semi sneak form, and I really like the way it turned out! Really good job on the neck, just like he looked in the woods!

My 30 year-old Indy 500 (over 8,000 miles) has been having a mid-range bog for many years now.  It is worse on warm days and when the engine is warmer.  The sled runs fine up to about 1/4 throttle, then runs extremely rich up to 3/4 throttle.  The spark plugs are dark brown (better brown than down?) but not saturated.  8 years ago I moved the clips on the jet needles from the 3rd to the 2nd groove to lean the mixture and it helped for a while.   Should I move the clips to the top groove (temporary solution)? Could the jet needles, needle jets, and/or the main jets be warn and need replacement?   Don't think I will have time to tear the carbs apart this season for a rebuild so I may just band-aid the problem.

I think that Mike89 picked April 26 two hours before you, jparrucci.  Is that correct Mike89?

My last hide I gave to my Taxidermist friend to make what ever he liked out of it.   I've got a few fun Bear hunt stories to be told.  All 3 of us our first year stupidly tracking a blood trail in the dark together and getting lost, luckily smelled the bait making circles and got out. 🫣 Flash lights dying, deep in a swamp following a blood trail in the dark, the one who stayed at the bait called us back in!  We learned our second bear! Lol. 😞  Downing a wounded charging bear with the last bullet when tracking, no lie! 😬    Have had my fun!  🥳

I remember that kegel… stuff….!   just finished my post work latte as a matter of fact!  Only the second case of those I’ve ever bought.     I’d get Mike something better.

I still have hope. Put me down for my dad's birthday in April 26. Come on warm weather.

application has been submitted. 👍   Leech......i've shot my share of bear......it be nice to get another but not the end of the world if i dont. i get to spend time with my son...its just another way to get into the woods. i've been at it since about 1976......that rush when you walk up to the bait and see the logs scattered all over and bait gone just doesnt get old for me.   i had to get rid of 1 rug because of bad tanning. i have another rug, shoulder mount and made 3 pillows from 2 different bear hides. my biggest issue has become what to do with the hide....that seems more of a trophy then the meat. i inquired 1 year at the Alex decoy show when there were a couple hide guys there and they didnt seem to interested. 🙄 i have no other ideas for the hide.......approval from the wife is not even negotiable!!!!!

aw that date is fine and maybe someday we will have beer!!!
    • Wanderer
Something in May, like around Opener.  Could be white knuckles for boaters that weekend with the way things stalled out since the contest started and how thick it still is.   Highs in the 50’s coming but lows are around freezing and not a lot of wind in the extended forecast.   I’ll tell  ya what, if you change from 4/26 and it hits that date, I’ll buy ya some mythical FM beer.  And you know where you can find it. 😉. But don’t change on my account - this is still a free country!

I caught the 10pm news the other night. They said that starting next week Minnesota will be above average for temps. I give them a 33% chance of getting that right.
