5 yards past is pretty bad...i can't remember a qb goin that far past line of scrimmage and throwing the ball...i don't think stinkpepper even did that one...especially when he had the easy 1st down if he would of just kept running...he was already half way there with no one around lol.

even worse was the ref that couldn't even clearly see cassel was 2 yards past even with instant replay and slow motion.

you guys ever heard of the IT factor? to be great or excellent you have to have IT...junkson doesn't have IT....he can be mediocre, sometimes even decent, but he's to inconsistant with up and down games though...you just have to wonder which junkson is gonna show up today....2,3,4, more yrs down the road he might know the playbook....coach can't call the plays and loosin the reigns if the qb can't execute the play...lets not forget brad johnson and gus ferotte are both a little less then stellar qb's also.

they say junkson has learned about 50% of the playbook in his 4th year.

if you haven't noticed this team has been built to win right now...not a handful of more years down the road IF junkson ever develops.

but none of it matters when the pressure is on and you look like a deer caught in the headlights.

i'd be willing to bet favre audibles all the time.

reguardless if your a jackson, booty, or sage fan, it's gonna be interesting to see how this all plays out.

we have to cut the roster to 75 players sept. 1, then we have to cut down to the 53 man roster sept.5.

do you think we'll actually go into the season with 4 qb's with all the other position battles going on? i've already seen some good talent out there that we are gonna have to cut already.

Pier, THESE chuckleheads will never get it...one poster had it right and I have said it before, after Bert then what? If we have OUR groomed QB traded away, do we go to TENTH year man SAGE or Rag-arm no experience Booty...not goin to elaborate anymore because it is not worth my time. They are close-minded as it gets on this subject......p.s james I spent all day yesterday watching Ground Sages greatest hits and games.......wait no I didn't that would be a COMPLETE waste of time!!!!!! But I have seen enough Rosencopter to last a lifetime.

you act like 10 years of experience is a bad thing....then u get on booty for not having experience even though your argument for junkson the past 4 years is he doesn't have the experience yet lol.

there are alot of great qb's that were said not to have a strong arm...what they did have was a brain and knew how to throw with touch.

there's also been alot of qb's that didn't make it even though they had a rocket arm and were athletic.

comes down to the IT factor.

There are 3 guys on this forum who think Jackson should be the QB, and a whole lot of people who think Sage CLEARY should be higher on the depthchart. I know thats hard for you to comprehend because none of them stated in writing they thought he clearly should be the starter, but its CLEAR that they feel this way.

There you go again, shooting from the hip stating your feelings, right or wrong, when we really need to see perfomance from our QBs. Not a bunch of feelings from you based on your obviously biased Sage film room reviews.

I'm CLEARLY for the best QB to start. If that's Sage so be it. I've seen him play enough. He's a darn good back-up QB who may turn into a good QB. T-Jack may or may not be the same. We only have a little more than a seasons worth of games from a developmental QB (T_Jack) to judge from. He was darn good the last time I watched and Sage was no where to be seen.

T-Jack is clearly getting better each time he goes out. Anyone who says differant clearly has their credibility they are trying to protect. laugh

I know alot out there hate Jackson,, but Favre is maybe only the answer for a few games this year. Especially if he stays in the pocket and gets rocked like he did agst KC. No way Favre makes a scramble to the right and hits Shancoe in the zone. TJ has impressed me so far IN THE PRESEASON. Alot more Football to played before the season starts,, but we would be stupid to trade TJ right now. I do think he adds an element to the Vikes off WITH FAVRE, that def can;t prepare for.

IF FAvre goes down,, the opposing DEF would have to adjust to a running QB-- somethin I don't think TJ does enough off.

It's not like our OFF is bulit totally around the pass.

Hey Bagder... just a suggestion... your contrived BIT was one of the more refreshing things in the Football forum here at FM. Originally you offered a rather interesting, insightful and open minded analysis of NFL football in general with fair and balanced criticizem and praise of both the Vikings and Packers football organizations.

If your going to resort to cheap shots and the usual bashing of us Minnesota sports fans and our opinions like Mudcutters pretty accurite take above, why bother logging out of your real identity and log-in as Badger guy we get of enough the same ole same ole silly stuff.

Just a suggestions... winkwinkwink

Make that 4 T-Jack fans......i've just kept a little more quiet cause in reality none of us really know what the kid is capable of! I really enjoyed your post AWH......it is fun to see how stubborn some are with the fact that T-Jack is a good qb and yes it does take time to develop a qb sometimes!!! And unfortunatly qb's do make mistakes, actually every player at every position makes mistakes...some more than others! Hopefully favre doesn't make any mistakes this year or he will public enemy #1 in the state of minnesota!

Add my wife to the mix. That makes 5 T-Jack fans.

Personally, I am not sold on T-Jack but he is not nearly as bad as most make him out to be.

1 or 2 more preseason games like the one TJ had and the pressure is on FAvre before the season even begins.

Truth be told,, I LOVE FAVRE--- but I don't know if his body can take the beating anymore. After 6-8 games-- I do hope the Vikes are 5-1 or 6-2,, otherwise I expect FAvre to falter. I think TJ can do it,, but like others have said, then the pressure is really on following a sure HOF.

The shots he took agst KC were full out lay-outs. ANd that's in 7 snaps,, you know he's going to get hit being how long he holds on to the ball. BUT-- he seems to be pretty tough. But that runs out with age.

I myself, once again, would like to point out to all you T-Junk Lovers(which i will from here on out refer to as TJLS) on how great he looked last year in the playoffs. I know at least one will bring up the #1 defense arguement. But if we want someone to win us the games that COUNT, don't we need him to at least win the important games(and not one insignificant preseason game?) I know ALL of you TJLS have at one point cursed T-Junk when he has played games(lets call this bandwagon jumping, being it's another term being thrown around quite loosely), and there have been quite a few.

Haven't we all cursed at players we like at one time or another? Pretty sure i cursed the heck out of adrian peterson last year when it was fumble after fumble, but it happens, players make mistakes!! But we did not give up on him! Granted we all know that AP is the man and T-Jack is unproven! You can't just give up on a player when you know he can play and you know he has an upside......we just haven't seen the full upside yet but I am willing to wait instead of dumping him to have a 1 year, possibly 2 year, qb in favre and more than likely not winning a super bowl, then starting over again. Favre will not make it through the full season, and if he does make it through it'll be just like last year with the jets! I'm excited to see favre play with the running game we have, it has HUGE potential but i do not see it lasting the season!

Another great post by a guy who has never seen Sage play. Lots of credibility flowing here. Constantly jumping in on a subject in which you know nothing about one of the people being debated. And yet we are the ones who are closed minded LOL. I really don't know how you think anyone here should take you the least bit serious in this subject. Your trying to make an arguemet against a QB you have never seen play.

So in the whole grooming a qb debate.......compare T-Jacks first 3 years (going on 4) to Throwsandfalls (sorry had to steal that one) same time period! HUGE difference.........it's all about development! Sage had 1 decent season in 07 where he threw 15 td to 12 int in nine games, last season was 6td to 10 int! Nothin spectacular there, and that was in his sixth season and after five years of not starting!! Not many qb's can come right out of college and light it up especially coming for a D-2 school! It takes time and of course we want to win NOW but i'm pretty sure that AP isn't going anywhere soon nor is jared allen or keving williams! Our team isn't going to change much personel wise in the next few years! So once again after two dissappointing seasons, cause without a superbowl they will be disappointing, then what? Sage is basically unproven as well!! He had a couple of ok seasons but also had a decent core of receivers including a stud in andre johnson!! It helps to have some decent receivers which the vikes haven't had in a while, berrian is good but dropped ALOT of easy catches last year as well as the rest of the group of receivers. It sickened me to see all the drops last season and then the blame goes right to jackson which he was not deserving of! But it is always the qb's fault isn't it!?!?!

A 9th year QB traded to a team for a 4th round pick. QB number two is 5 years younger and has a trade value of maybe a 6th or 7th rounder according to the general consensus. Speaks volumes about what the NFL thinks of the 2 QB's doesn't it?

It's all about the timing of the trades. No team wants to trade for a starting QB at this time. A 4th round pick for Sage isn't exactly a ringing endorsement. Might want to think that one through a bit further.

No one is trading for a starting QB Rick. The Rams were stated as being interested in him as a backup. If you think that somehow last March Jackson would have commanded a 4th round pick your nuts. I'm not trying to make a ringing endorsement for Sage. Simply pointing out what the NFL thinks of a 4th year QB.

If Sage can force defenses out of the box and quits throwing so many INTs at critical times he could also be a starting quality QB. All four of our QBs have issues.

Unlike some here, I will be behind whoever starts.

All I have to say is they better win with what they've put together!!!!

lol here we go again....its 4 years later and we still need to eat crow when junkson is "showing glimpses"!! i love it...you guys are a riot in the morning!!
Not that it really matters but just to be sure you get your facts straight...it's only 3 years later not 4 years later. It's only the beginning of his 4th season. Maybe your opinions of T-Jack are just as on target?

If the last game is a glimpse, of what can be expected from T-Jack in the regular season, I'll take it. Just as I would take Sage based on his last performance.

I'm tired of all the name-callers. You should be ashamed to call yourself fans of the team when you are name calling the players or like I've been saying...you're trolling closet Bums/Puker/Kitty Fans

With our team it's possible for any of our QBs to win games.

I hope this team expects to win games and win a Super Bowl.

Yeah, I drink the Purple People Eater Kool-aid and proud to say it!!!

All this Junkson love is a moot point anyway. He IS not starting. He will NOT start for the Vikings. We brought in 2 OTHER QB'S for a reason. Wait, it must of been because the Vikings had that much confidence in the guy. That is why I would bring in 2 new QB's.

And I will say the same thing about any guy I think does not deserve a roster spot. I didn't like the pick when we drafted him, and I still dislike him to this day. I want the Vikings to win games, and I do not believe Jackson is the man to do it.

Not sure if you are really following the thread or not. Nobody loves T-Jack other than Fish58 and after listening to you know it alls whine constantly I don't blame him for that.

Nobody's is saying T-Jack is Dan Marino although they have the same amount of Super Bowls. All we're really saying is T-Jack should not have been replaced by a washed up of journeymen QB last year and we were right in case you missed the last 6 games of the season "see crow threads" oh but thats right those 6 games and the NFL player of week don't count in your tunnel vision world but his first ever playoff game was a disaster so thats the end all be all. Fortunately the people that run the NFL don't make knee jerk panic moves very often based on whinny fans in a fishing forum...LOL.

I have no problem with anybody that hates, can't stand, or doesn't think T-Jack can do the job as an NFL QB thats somewhat reasonable although a little pre mature IMO and I guess I should let go some of the absurd comments like Sage Often-Falls is clearly better but anyone who follows the game knows that is non-sense. And thats why you have never heard from any credible source for instance. ESPN, FOX sports and any local sports person that Sage Rosen-Terrible is better and has clearly beat out T-Jack.

Why haven't' you heard that from anyone other than disgruntled sports fans on a message boards, because its absurdly ridiculous to make that statement at this time based on results so far.

Again Sage may be better he may not be...clearly better yeah right genius's!

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?
    • LakeofthewoodsMN
On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
