Stopped and fished Miners Pit really quick in Ely today, managed a 14" Rainbow on my first cast with a 1/8oz jig and gulp minnow, then blanked the rest of the time.

Where do the trout hang out in these pits and how do you fish them? Talked to one guy who caught a few 25ft down. I had a hard time marking them with all the trees, lost a few lures to the trees too...

Little orange/gold floating rapalas, like 2-3" long work - sometimes I put a decent sized split shot 6' in front to get it down a bit on bright days. The trout tend to just cruise all over - I fish from a canoe and just paddle around and do ok.

The guy has it right, use a slip bobber set at 25' with a crawler, sits right above the tree line on the north east end
