Shamineau crappies

Recommended Posts

I am taking my 3 year old boy and 7 year old girl out fishing on Shamineau this coming weekend, I would really like to get them into some crappies, any info on where they might be hiding this time of year would be greatly appreciated! I don't need to know anyones secret spot or anything grin Just general info would be great. Thanks!

July is a tough time for me to catch crappies. May is much better. When I have caught them they seem to be scattered. Sunfish might be better. You can visually see them in schools under 10 ft of water We've been using Gulp crappie bait (little white marshmellows). Have fun!

Thanks for the info Tommy! I am sure the kids will enjoy the sunnies just as much as crappies, I don't think they even know the difference yet really!

I haven't fished the lake much, but when I've caught crappies mid-summer, it has been just off the deep weedline. I have a few places I like to fish and it seems I catch most of my fish in the 15-18 foot mark. I have no idea if it is a real pattern or me just getting lucky a few times, but that is where I have caught them. Shamineau seems like a tough lake to get a good pattern going, but that just me!
