Hey fellow anglers,
On Feb 17th, Fishing Minnesota will be hosting the first annual Ice Leaders Pro Challenge on Mille Lacs Lake. The event will be held starting at 9am from Mac’s Twin Bay and will end at 4pm.
Everyone is encouraged to attend.
The cost will be $5 per person and trophies along with prize money will be awarded to the winners. The total prize money will be determined by the number of participants.
This will be more of a fun event than anything else, so please make arrangements to attend. A list of the rules are as follows-

Rules For Multi-Species Ice Fishing Contest

1) Entrants will be paired into groups of two (2) if there is an odd number, one group will have three (3).

2) Entrant with last name beginning closest to the letter A will get his/her choice of spot to fish first. If the other entrant so chooses, after the mid-way point of the tourney, both entrants must move to the second entrants spot of choice. In event of a team that consists of 3 participants, the time will be divided into thirds.

3) Both entrants must fish within 200 feet of each other.

4) All contestants must be back to the tourney headquarters by the time specified or face disqualification.

5) Entrants may fish anywhere on the lake, however, entrants will not be allowed to leave lake surface in order to reach another portion of the lake or to return to tournament headquarters by deadline. All vehicles must leave from the starting point.

6) One (1) legal limit of fish may be registered by each entrant.

7) Scores will be kept on the official score sheet which will be handed out at the beginning of the tourney.

8) Fish must be immediately measured, scored by the opposite entrant, and then immediately released.

9) Fish will be measured with mouth CLOSED and tail PINCHED.

10) Fish that are scored MUST remain on the score sheet. No score “Culling”. When a fish is caught, the entrant must decide weather or not to score the fish or release it without being scored in hopes of catching a larger fish.

11) In case of tie, LARGEST fish of any species will determine the winner.

The way I fish....you will be PROUD to DON'T have me as partner, Jim, believe me!!! shocked.gif
We need to find somebody with Abacus or A..something for last name, and of course that catches fish. Does Allindner works together or is separate ?? grin.gif
Anyway, I am afraid I will not make it, but I still would argue the alphabetical order. rolleyes.gif
Hey, I really like these smilies.

The name order will be rotated at each event. But, you may still have a good point.

Also, nothing wrong with trying to talk your partner into a better fishing spot, if you have one.

PS. Please see the post with this topic in the Main Ice Fishing Forum.

MnSportsman, when you click Post Reply, look left from where you write, it says Smilies Legend. Follow exactly the grammar, othrewise they look not good.
They should make smiles looking like fish, they would be more appropriate for this forum.

      Great news, thank Skunked

Minnows are 50 cents each, and leeches are $50 a pound.

Absolutely. I get full bars all-along the drive from Cook to The Landing, and out into Head O Lakes bay. I can't say that I've stared much at my phone signal anywhere else besides on my way to Black Bay. We still don't get much for service there because there are a lot of steep slopes with tall trees in the way. That was expected though. The tower is definitely providing better service to the area in general IMO.

Any updates on this new tower? Has it helped AT and T customers throughout the lake get better service?

Thanks for the heads up. Cigar.

Went in to Lucky 7 to get some crappie minnows today. All they had were crappie minnows and fatheads. She said to call in advance for the opener, couldn't say for sure if they'd have rainbows, shiners, etc for opener!

I hope to see it and believe it next week! Nice looking crappie

      Crappies are biting!

Been out couple times this last week. Between the rain and wind there really was only one day this past week where it was actually warm out fishing.  Water temps are low mid 50s yet, not much change from last week.  Fish are still holding out off the first break on some area lakes and right up in the boat channels and back bays of others.   Been keeping it pretty simple as far as tackle used. Having the best luck with the lil hustler tubes under a small float or throwing the Bobby Garland baby shads with a 1/32 jig head.  The Bobby's have definitely been my big fish catcher this spring.
