McQuade/Knife River area

Has anyone been having any luck in this area of the north shore? I will be going up next week and fishing out of the Knife River Marina. What have the water temps been in that area, thanks.

I was out of Two Harbors yesterday it was 42 to 44 surface temp. I caught one 7# laker had one hit but got off marked alot of fish also big schools of herring.

Where and how far out of Knife River marina will we have to go to find water temps in the 50's?

Depends on the winds. As of 10pm last night it looks like you'd have to go out @3-4 miles to hit 50 degree water. But with the winds that line has probably moved some today.

The coastwatch site has daily temp readings/contours for Superior.

Thanks for the info, I'll check that coastwatch site before I leave on Sunday. I'll fish Monday, Tuesday and probably in the morning on Wed. I know dad is taking some people out today so hopefully he'll have some success that we can play off of for next week.

Monday we went out southeast of the Knife River marina and found water temps of 50-55 4 miles out. Only one other boat near us, we had just one release in 5 hours or so. Talked to the people in the other boat at the Marina later and they picked up 2 lakers in 8 hours--pretty slow. Tuesday the winds picked up so about an hour after we put in our lines, we had to head in. Will give it a try later in August when I'm back in Duluth.
