Lake Monson

Planing a camping/fishing trip to Willmar Area, which state park is better; Monson or Sibley? Which one offers better fishing? I have a small boat we'll be bringing, any tips and advice are welcome. We like to fish northern, bass, panfish and walleyes.

i think sibley is the cleanest and is just a overall better place

I have never been to monson state park but have not seen any camp ground much nicer than sibley.I have fished it since I was in diapers,Grandma and grampa lived on it and I lived on it for a month this winter in one of my fish houses.If you can book a site I would.My E mail is mhcarpntry at yahoo dot com I would be more than happy to come over in my boat and show you some spots in exchange for some info on lakes in your area(have not fished it much).I hammered 11-12 and some 13-14 in crappie this spring,There are spots near the camp ground that you can shore fish,bring chest waders.nice bass,pike and walleye,a lot of sunnies but you have to sort through them.I do fish a couple lakes near monson for some bull sunnies but not much after spawn.Tough to beat the lakes in the andrew area,norway,games,florida,take a canoe into henchien and swan.
