Fishing tips Zippel Bay State Park

Hey all, I'll be camping at Zippel Bay State Park in mid-July. It'll be my first time on Lake of the Woods. I know it may be mostly pike, walleye and perch so just wondering what would be the best techniques for them during mid-July?

Also, how is the bass fishing there? Should I even try for bass?

Bass? What are they? Seriously though you may scratch up a few on/around Graceton reefs. For them Walters best bet then would be to troll troll troll out in the deep basin waters, look for charter boats basically straight out, usually there are a few pulling plugs out thatta way that time of year. Have any riggers or leadcore set-ups? Deep diving plugs and snap weights will work for you also over the basin.

I should probably get some more walleye gear and probably shouldn't even bother bringing buzzbaits or spooks then huh? Are there any bait shops around Zippel Bay State Park?

Shore fishing spots any good?

It would be pretty tough catching any bass in that area. There are 2 bait shops about 6-8 miles east of the park, Border Bait & Log Cabin Bait, but you can boat from the park landing over to Zippel Resort in less than 5 minutes and they have pretty much all you need right there.

Fisky is right. Pulling plugs in the deep flat basins is probably the best way to catch fish around that time, but don't ignore the rocks. You may have to travel a bit to get to them but on certain days they can pay off as well. Leave your bass stuff at home.
