walk from squirrels nest road but when you walk there follow the trail. I'm pretty sure you want to practically walk right over squirrels nest point

Has anyone been to bakers bay the last few days. I want to try it tomorrow but not sure if the ice is safe to get to it. Or if you have a better comment then mine earlier on how to get there fill us in please.

park at westwood or down at the county park at the end of bakers bay road this is closest

whats the safest way there. Any spots I should avoid especially over the deep hole in bakers bay or on the walk out there. Any open water?

Posted

open water off squirrels point is all, been there all winter or if you come through county park you are fine, no problem spots at all in bakers bay

Me and a buddy are plannin on heading out tonight after work. Does any one have any suggestions on where on the lake we should try for and evening bite? We havent fished washington yet this year so any info would be great. Appreciate any advice given.

Fished from 9 am till 2:15 pm and caught 3 crappies a lil after noon but other then that is was really slow.

Fished from 5:30-9:30 managed to get 5 nice crappies and saw one eye on the camara. Other than that it was pretty slow. Fished 25-30 fow. Crappies were suspended. Thinkin maybe bakers bay might be a better shot at some crappies? Suggestions?

DLK- what are you seeing for ice thickness out there in the bay this week after the 40 degree temps? And by the way, I agree with the pike. I have pulled several out this year the largest being just over 30 inches and it was on a small ratfinkee on 6lb test, great times. Caught them both in shallow and just under the ice out deeper.

Thats great to hear that size of a pike caught. I have never been to bakers bay (im a diehard 3rd point junkie smile ) Can i get a somewhat detailed explanation on how to get there. I'm assuming you walk out from west wood on the ice then walk on the ice to the land at that skinny point (squirrels nest) then walk from the land straight out to the hole. Correct? and whats ice thickness like asked before.

hows the bite been lately the past few days? The girlfriend is wanting me to take her out for her first time so im trying to figure out where to take her. I have caught some nice fish a couple weeks ago by stabbin in the dark. I fished the north end of the lake and also bakers bay. North end produced some nice crappies, bakers was slow. talked with a guy who was walking off bakers that caught some of the biggest sunnies i had seen in a very long time. As far as that goes i dont know where else to try on the lake seeing as im in new to the lake. any help would be great thanks.

As far as driving a vehicle on the lake, at the north landing it states the lake is close to vehicle traffic.

I was out there a few days ago on the east side of the lake and found approx 12 inches of ice in every hole I drilled. That was from out deep by second point, to third point over to grassy island and in the bay to the sw of the north landing.

Fishing was very slow as the fish just did not want to take anything I threw at them.

Fishing was real slow this weekend with only a couple crappies that would take the bait. Look shallow for pike and bass (10 ft. or less) caught a few doing this.

big sunnies in bakers bay today 2 pickups out there wouldn't recommend that had 11" of ice

I'm heading out there tomorrow, any other bad ice spots? I'm not driving anything, just walking from the north access, so the Squirrel's nest point wont affect me.

Was out there saturday and open water is from the narrows to the opening of bakers bay and the open water touches squirrels nest point but we still were able to cross the point and get to the hole. The open water sure did expand by the end of the day tho and I'm sure the winds aren't helping it at all. The county park may be a better option after these winds. The fishing was up and down. Caught a couple bass one 6 pounder and 1 5 pounder and one 4 lb. pike. The sunnies hit sporadically all day but were finiky. The crappies were real slow only managed one.
