Any word on this lake this season? I did pretty good there this summer panfishing, and would like to try it ice fishing once there's enough ice to start driving on. Anyone catching anything decent? Any tips or advice? Thanks in advance.

I have been out there the last 3 night tageting walleyes and all im finding is 7-9" crappies so if thats what your looking for you might be in luck!

Yeah I'd be willing to try to catch some of them. I'll be throwing them all back anyways, but it's better than sitting at home or another lake catching smaller ones.

7-9" crappies? I'd love to catch one over 7". If your looking for action you can catch crappies anywhere and everywhere but they're all cookie cutters. Was out a couple days ago and there was about 10" of ice. I also saw someone driving a car out there although they got stuck a couple times. Not sure all this snow will help either. Good luck

Anyone been down to Cedar Lake this year? Was curious if there was any weed issues like last year and whether or not anything is biting since so many fish died last year.

Have not been there yet this year but if you are willing to go cedar, there is another lake close by that is producing some nice eater wallys along with some nice gills.

Will be trying to put the hurt on them tomorrow (saturday) early a.m.

what "other" lake are you referring to? Or is that asking for too much info? Understand if it is.

Went out to the "other" lake on saturday morning and boated a limit of nice eater wallys.

Then put the smack down on some nice gills.

Sorry, don't want to mention the "other" lake.

Heard from a friend that cedar is putting out 7-9" cookie cutter crappies.

No problem. I have a pretty good idea what other lake you are referring to.

Has anyone who has been out there seen any carp in the shallows looking to shoot a few?

Does anyone have a report about the weeds on the lake?? Would like to get out there, but I know the Spring and early summer out there are pretty tough with the weed growth. I usually fish the shorelines...

I was there Thursday and the north end would have been pretty tough fishing (I left. Alot of weed growth along the shore.

Have not been on the water yet. Weeds look pretty think near shore but it looks like they're not on the surface as far out as they usually are. Maybe it's a better year for them. Plus that lake is up about a foot from last year which s a good thing. Interesting to see how the Muskie guys do this weekend.

Fished the lake on Wed, and the weed growth is not to bad. Especially if you know how to fish it, just hit the edges fo the thick weeds for bass, or throw into the slop with frogs and you will snag some bass. I was tryin to move some muskies and got my first 43" of the year. Saw one other fish boated also.

Hey bisekb,

Glad to see you on this site. Not sure if you remember me but we played a lot of football together after school in NP. Are you done at school and around here for good now? If you are it'd be nice to get out and chase some muskies sometime as my regular boat partner is leaving to go to school out of state

How were the weeds? I normally love hitting Cedar Lake. The crappies are small but my boys are still at that age where they just like catching something. So would love to take them back down there. And how is the water level? Getting out of the little bay area on the East always makes me nervous.

I have heard it's because of the drought. I know in my area ( meeker co.) the sloughs that they trap minnows in have dried up.
    • SkunkedAgain
Excuse my ignorance, but was is driving the bait prices? Usually the shortage is due to a late ice-out from the swamps and streams. This year should have been much better.
    • CigarGuy
I should probably learn to use the 6+ containers of lures I have collecting dust in my tackle box. We got on a decent crappie bite the last couple of evenings and I broke out some plastics.  I caught some crappies on them ,just need to build my confidence in using them! I did notice they didn't seem to hold on to them as long as minnows!

      Great news, thank Skunked

Minnows are 50 cents each, and leeches are $50 a pound.
    • SkunkedAgain
Absolutely. I get full bars all-along the drive from Cook to The Landing, and out into Head O Lakes bay. I can't say that I've stared much at my phone signal anywhere else besides on my way to Black Bay. We still don't get much for service there because there are a lot of steep slopes with tall trees in the way. That was expected though. The tower is definitely providing better service to the area in general IMO.
    • PSU
Any updates on this new tower? Has it helped AT and T customers throughout the lake get better service?
    • Jetsky
Thanks for the heads up. Cigar.

The price will blow your mind if they get some

Went in to Lucky 7 to get some crappie minnows today. All they had were crappie minnows and fatheads. She said to call in advance for the opener, couldn't say for sure if they'd have rainbows, shiners, etc for opener!
