Not sure how you spell Coot - mean mud hens.

Was at Lake Mary last couple of weekends. Have seen a group of Pelicans and Coot, together, hanging out right at the tip/East end of the long reef towards the North end of the lake. Freind of mine told me they have been there for two weeks. They look to be feeding on something, anybody know what they are after?

I'd have to say shiners. Mary has more than the average lake, that's why the fish grow so fast! Now only if we could get people to leave a couple in the lake so they could have a chance to grow??

Thanks for the input. Yes, my guess would be shiners too, I think they should be spawning about now. I didn't realize they would use that reef to spawn though, I thought they would be on the shallow sand.

Pelicans are chasing shiners or any small fry. The coot are eating new growth submergent vegetation.
