Now that it appears as though most, if not all, of the ice is off Vermilion, does anyone have a recent water temp or guess on the water temp for the opener?

Thanks

My guess would be 39 to 41 degrees in most areas.

keep those life vests handy...doesn't take long at that temp if you go overboard lifting in that 24 incher....better yet, keep it on...see you on that opening day water...

Very good advice! I wear my vest during the spring cold water period at all times! Very hard to swim with a heavy coat and insulated boots on!! I tried that a couple of years ago! frown

Those 40 degree temps were what we had on opening day last year...even colder in some spots. The forecast for the rest of the week is looking much better. Mid to upper 60's with some rain. Things should be rounding out nicely for the opener. cool

41-42 in Wolf and Niles on Sunday 5/3. Up to 44 in some of the shallower bays.

I put the boat in on Saturday and had 43 degrees in Pike Bay.
