Bring your rain gear for that kind of wind!saturday i had to backtroll to keep the boat straight. The splash off the slash guard would hit you in the back of the head!Last tuesday was even worse,a gust of brutal wind spun my boat 180 degrees while backtrolling.i could not catch up to the front!Yes i am sick of the high winds also.

Let's hope the wind predictions for Wednesday are readjusted at some point this week.

I'm not sure exactly how hard it was blowing today, just that it was really really windy...

Good news is the crappies are definitly on a tear. I had a little vehicle trouble on the way to the lake so I got a late start but the fish where just STACKED in the first spot we checked. I'll give a detailed report tomorrow. Dave I will bring my spare flasher for you it's definitly easier and more fun with it!

Hopefully the wind doesn't come!

Had another awesome day also! Slow start with the high winds in the little dingy, but ended great. Maybe we had our windy day today instead! Right? Boat control over small areas has really put them crappies in the boat. Your in for a treat guys!

I'll be out tomorrow around 8am also.

Matt, It's a go. Breakfeast will be served! See you wed morning. It's going to be a long day.

We'll need a sheephead score card!

Have a good time tomorrow. If I return from the road trip I'm on now in time, I just may be down there.

So I guess the fact that I only caught a sheephead yesterday means....?

I'm in a pickle, I've got to go to work for a few hours either today or tomorrow but I can't decide when, today looks like better conditions but tomorrow I can fish with all the crappie pros!

Sounds good Lonnie. I drop my kids off at school at 8am. As long as there's no slow drivers on 60, I can make it in 35 minutes laugh

Looks like I will be on the Minnesota in search of some large flatheads as the water is finally getting up to the temps needed with these warm days and warmer evenings.

Good luck to all.

PDOGG called it.

FROM THE NWS

The NWS in twin cities/chanhassen has issued a wind advisory, which is in effect from 9 am to 7 pm cdt wednesday.

Gusty south winds spread into southern Minnesota this afternoon in the wake of a strong warm front which was lifting north across the twin cities metro. The front will continue to lift north overnight into northern Minnesota by morning. South winds of 20 to 30 mph will spread north overnight in the wake of front. During the morning on Wednesday even stronger winds are expected in much of southern and across east central Minnesota. Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph are possible Wednesday morning and into the afternoon, especially across south central Minnesota.

Precautionary/preparedness actions,

A wind advisory means that winds of 30 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

sounds like instead of yapping on the internet all the time u should be a weatherman! JK lol. so are the still going to have that get-2-gether tomorrow? with this wind its just plain stupidity to be out on the lake no matter what kind of boat u have! but whatever u do be safe out there!

I'll be out regardless. That lake wont produce waves larger than Mille Lacs, Large waves on Mille hasn't brought me in ~ inturn means, a little 2 foot chop wont ruin my fishing.

Besides, if need be there's quite a few spots that produce that wont be on the 'windy' side.

edit: Didn't mean to sound cocky.(never been or would be on Mille over a 15/20 mph wind, lol) laugh

I'm with Matt on this one. Had the dingy out 7 of the last ten days. Always a place to go. Nothing else, breakfest all day!

While I agree that fishing in the wind is an option for some, it is just not as enjoyable and will ruin the atmosphere of the GTG.

Most likely I will still be out there tomorrow as well, but if we move it to next week the crappie bite will still be on (hopefully) and more people should be able to attend/fish comfortably.

Tuesday / Thursday would be great. Wednesday nite is Trap Leauge at KCCC. Plus it is always windy or rainy on Wednesday. Usually all summer long remember that...

I will check in the morning for updates. Next Wed/Thurs sounds good, but whatever you guys decide.

I don't generally like to leave numbers, but i wont be able to check online at work tomorrow.

someone call me 507-581-9827 and leave a message when something is decided. i will check my messages throughout the day. just mention who you are and whats been decided

Judging by the wind that is still blowing now at midnight I think the best route would be to reschedule. Although next Thursday is doable for me Tuesday would work the best but I will put it up to a vote.

Gusts to 55 mph forecasted for today...for those venturing out --use some common sense. Crappies are on the move...have been on a solid school for better than three weeks now and yesterday was the first day they weren't there anymore. I was getting them in 17ft. and not a single fish to be found in that area anymore.

I'll call PDOGG in a few hours and let him know how we are doing out there. Good thing the DNR landing is on the Non-windy side.
