Someone was telling me that there is a number of bluegills in this area is this true or is this just a rumor. I was out there the other day and seen a few suckers and that was about it.

I've not caught bluegills there. I wouldn't rule it out but for the most part one will catch suckers, carp, and the occasional smallmouth. I've fished this from Mantorville down to Genoa to Lake Shady in various spots. This stretch is a great place to catch shiners and chubs if you are into freezing dead bait. It is like most of the Zumbro River fingers in that it has some deep holes.
