Water alarm for basement

Scoot

Question

I'd like to find an alarm that'll tell me if my sump in my basement is filling up too high (i.e., my pump has quit working or isn't keeping up for some reason). What's available for this?

Do you want it to just beep? Or do you want it to call you on the phone to tell you? Such alarms are available at places like Mills Fleet. That's where I got mine.

One that called my phone would be awesome! How much might I expect to pay for something like that?

Mine was like 100 bucks, and it tells if power is off and if temperature goes too low also. Just don't confuse it with a junk call and hang up on it. Like I did.

It could be that the sump's float mechanism is stiff from the cold spring water and not cycling properly.

There are many ways to upgrade your dewatering mechanism, but for people who have frequent issues with flooding an alarm is the best insurance.

We give out the cheap beeper kind to our customers with sewer backup problems. Of course they only work when you're home.

There is a place in Chanhassen that makes water alarms and freeze alarms, the one I have even calls if the power is out. It's Control Products Inc. Controlproductsinc dot com. If I remember correctly the water alarm by itself was under $100. You should be able to buy direct from the factory, I drove over and picked mine up.

It's called a water bug but you need to have an alarm system to use them. Other wise a wireless one that just alerts you. With the water bug your alarm company will be notified if it goes off. I have installed many of these and they work great.

Check and see if you can find something like this on that company that has a Shack and sometimes there's a Radio on it.
