WHY DIDN'T THE DNR OPEN THE LANDING HERE? ALL OF THE OTHER LANDINGS FROM INT'L FALLS TO BAUDETTE WERE OPEN EXCEPT THIS ONE!! THIS COULD OF BEEN A BAD DEAL FOR THE FISHERMAN AND THE BUSINESS AROUND THERE. WE PAY A LOT MONEY IN LICENSES, WHY CAN'T THEY SPEND $200 TO OPEN IT UP?? ANYBODY HAVE ANY ANSWERS????????????????????????

Otis, The DNR does not take care of opening up the landing's. Most of the landings fall under the County Land Commissioner, which seeks the help of the County Highway Maintenance guys to open up landings. Our Maintenance Supervisor to a look at that landing and said there was to much ice and it was to dangerous for our equipment to work down by the water(equipment sliding in). The risk is not worth it.

Nordy, do you guys have a steamer for opening culverts? Next year you should try that. We used just a regular pump, and pumped water from the river and that melted most of the ice. I would think that steamer would do a great job. Let us know next year and we can give you a hand doing it. thanks
