What size wait for 3-way?

I've read a few 3-way posts here a while back but don't remember anyone really mentioning a size or type of weight. Can anyone lead me in the right direction? Do i pick the weight depending on depth i'm trying to target? Can i also use this set up on a lake?

The drop weight size can very, depends on the depth of water, current, what you presentation your trying to achieve. Pencil type don't seem snag as much (IMO) in shallow rocky areas putting split shots on the dropper work real well, don't forget bottom bouncers

I mostly run 3/4 and 1 oz for live bait 3 way setups, you can fish upwards of 30' in a reasonable current with 1 oz. I use 2oz up to 5 oz for 3 way rigging rapalas. You can use the setup on a lake as long as the bottom is relatively weed free.
