08 vs 09 Navionic chips

Does anybody know if there is a big difference between the 08 and 09 navionics chips? beside more lakes. If you have noticed a differnce, what are they?

I have been wondering the same thing. Are there data upgrades from year to year on the same lakes. I like the price on the 08 chip but not if I am going to sacrifice contour data.

The differences are more lakes, and sometimes lakes are updated. Perfect example of that is Kabetogama, it's a high-definition map on the '09 card but not on the '08 card.

The important thing is to check to see if the lakes you fish are on the new card but not the old card.

Thanks PerchJerker, I can see how you could tell that a lake like Kab has been updated if it goes from the standard definition to the high-definition. But is there any way to know if a lake has received updates if it's staus has not changed to high-definition?

bought the 08 liked it.

thought the 09 was an upgrade, well it is but. Looked up a few lakes in wi that i fish and missing some good info from the 08. not happy, but will keep the 09 and figure it out.

As far as I know they don't update or change anything, except changing from non-high-def to high-def for certain lakes, or adding lakes that weren't on there previousely.

I haven't upgraded mine since 07 but theres a difference between 06 and 07 on my home lakes, each has its time and place and normaly both are running. I need to see the difference from those to the 09 and see whats changed.

The lake I fish in Canada, Manitou, was HD and was updated after it was HD.
